Job Summary

Join our team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, contributing to the development of highly customized, multi-million-dollar microscopes with sub-nanometer resolution. Collaborate closely with world-class professionals from Marketing, Project Management, Operations, suppliers, and a diverse set of engineers and scientists. Lead mechanical development from requirements to production release, including concept layout, detailed design, analysis, and testing. Provide innovative solutions to improve component and assembly-level COGS and design for manufacturing efforts, ensuring project cost, quality, and schedule objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical development projects from initial requirements to production release.
  • Perform concept layout, detailed design, analysis, and testing as needed.
  • Provide solutions to enhance component and assembly-level cost of goods sold (COGS) and design for manufacturing.
  • Ensure projects meet cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
  • Offer mechanical scoping and guidance for new projects, new service requests (NSRs), and potential portfolio changes.
  • Support the transition from design to production.
  • Provide innovative solutions to complex design challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience leading the development of complex capital or metrology equipment in the semiconductor industry.
  • Precision machine design proficiency, including design for stiffness, controlling degrees of freedom, error budgeting, sensor selection, material selection, GD&T, and design for manufacturability.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in semiconductor equipment development.
  • Experience with metrology, motion systems, machine vision, vacuum systems, ceramics, high voltage, wafer handling, automation, and/or charged particle systems.
  • Proficiency in traditional and additive manufacturing methods and joining techniques (e.g., welding, brazing).
  • Proficiency with computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools.

  • Experience with precision machine design.
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing methods and joining techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions.
