What We Want

The Senior Research Associate will assists the Principal Investigator(s) conducting research, including program evaluation or survey research. The selected candidate(s) will coordinate with sponsors regarding research needs and objectives, coordinate project activities, collect qualitative and quantitative data, and conduct qualitative analysis of data collected through interview and observational methods. The Senior Research Associate will also conduct statistical analysis of quantitative data, preferably using Stata, prepare presentations of research results, write research reports, and assist with writing proposals to pursue independent research projects. What You Need To Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Schedule/Travel: Occasional day or overnight travel across the state to meet with stakeholders or attend conferences.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4 years of research experience in social sciences or related field (criminal justice, political science, public health, economics, education, statistics, psychology, sociology)


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Travels across the state and overnight is required (focus groups, training, meetings, conferences)


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in social sciences or related field (criminal justice, political science, public health, economics, education, statistics, psychology, sociology)
  • Experience in public policy (program evaluation and policy analysis) and project management; focus group management; regression techniques and application; multivariate analysis and interpretation
  • Strong knowledge of/proficiency with Stata, with experience using other software such as R
  • Experience with ArcGIS, LaTeX, and text analysis software
  • Experience writing research proposals and/or reports
  • Experience working with research project sponsors
  • Class C Driver’s License


Responsibilities:

  • Data Management & Statistical Analysis: Collect qualitative and quantitative data. Provide database management for various research projects. Conduct qualitative analysis of data collected through interview and observational methods. Conduct complex statistical analysis of quantitative data, preferably using Stata. Maintain project records and documentation. Assist with data analysis to fulfill routine reporting to sponsor, routine management activities, and special information needs within the scope of the contract. Maintain knowledge of current data analysis tools and continue to develop qualitative and quantitative skills. Maintain integrity of qualitative and quantitative research data.
  • Research Support: Assist Principal Investigator with research activities such as: coordinating with sponsors regarding research needs and objectives, coordinating project activities, attending meetings related to research projects, data collection, project planning, and maintaining project databases. Conduct focus groups and interviews. Collaborate with other research teams to support project needs throughout the department as assigned.
  • Proposal Development & Report Writing: Create summary graphics for reports and presentations. Write, edit, and format reports. Assist with the preparation of reports for submission to project sponsors and stakeholders. Participate in preparation of grant proposals to funding agencies.
  • Other Duties: Attend conferences and other meetings for the purpose of Public Policy Research Institute and performs other duties as assigned.
