Our flagship solution, mini-PRO™, is a bespoke class of mini-proteins that help pharma and biotechs around the world deliver safer and more effective life-saving treatments at a fraction of the time of traditional discovery methods. miniPRO proteins are created and evaluated in silico, and then rigorously tested in vitro and in vivo. The Role

Our Protein Assay Development group is seeking to hire a Senior Scientist to become an integral part of the biologics drug development effort. We are searching for candidates who think critically and possess the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position demands adaptability and the ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. This Senior Scientist will work across multiple projects and experiments in our wet lab, and will have a strong focus on high-throughput screening and QC, as well as lab automation and protocol/method optimization.

Due to the nature of wet lab work, this position will primarily be on-site at our lab in New York City (SoHo). The position will report to the Principal Scientist of Protein Assay Development.

What You'll Do:

Execute Experiments for Method Optimization:

  • Develop, design, and execute experimental protocols to improve protein expression, purification, and analysis methods
  • Analyze data and interpret results to refine experimental procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement optimized methods into regular workflows

High-throughput Protein Quality Control:

  • Perform high-throughput screening and quality control of proteins using various biochemical and biophysical techniques.
  • Develop and validate assays for protein characterization, ensuring high standards of reproducibility and accuracy.
  • Maintain precise records of experimental data, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation of procedures, observations, and results. Effectively communicate findings and insights to the team, providing clear and concise reports that convey key information and support informed decision-making.

Lab Automation:

  • Operate and maintain state-of-the-art automated laboratory equipment for high-throughput protein production and analysis, ensuring optimal performance and data accuracy. You will be responsible for the operation of cutting-edge instruments and handling complex workflows, troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise on the fly.
  • Develop and implement automation protocols to increase efficiency and throughput of laboratory processes.
  • Troubleshoot and enhance automated workflows in order to guarantee consistent and dependable performance


Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in biology or a related field
  • 5-6 years of experience in high-throughput screening and automation
  • Experience with laboratory automation tools and software
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Knowledge of protein purification techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience in designing and implementing robotic systems for laboratory automation

Desired:

  • Experience using Benchling
  • Experience working with cell-free expression systems

Base Salary Range: 100k-150k

(Final amount based on education and prior experience)
