Hitachi Energy is currently searching for a candidate to fill the role of U.S. country security manager and crisis coordinator for our Americas security team. The ideal candidate will contribute to improving security performance in the United States playing a valuable role within the team and through the region. The candidate will support the organization by applying in-depth security knowledge to offer solutions, driving the delivery of security programs and ensuring effective risk management through excellence in security measures.
Your Responsibilities
- Organizational governance:
- Provides competent functional support, in accordance with the region/country security plan and all global, regional and/or security policies, processes and planning. Reports directly to the Regional Head of Security for the Americas and with an indirect reporting line to the Hitachi Energy country managing director for the United States.
- Key metrics:
- Collects, analyzes, and reports on performance, utilizing global security key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Compliance:
- Tracks, assesses, and reports on emerging security trends and related legislation. Supports managers to ensure that the area of responsibility is compliant with legal requirements as well as corporate global and regional security standards and regulations.
- Risk management:
- Contributes to, and drives, effective risk management of security related issues by providing specialist knowledge and advice on key business decisions in the development of solutions.
- Continuous improvement:
- Drives behavioral change to continuously improve security performance through coordinated global and region-wide performance improvement programs and initiatives. Supports the sharing of best practices and applies global and regional standardized processes to deliver consistent security support within the respective country/region.
- Communication and engagement:
- Engage external (e.g., customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment on Hitachi Energy’s security efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback. It is crucial to build and establish trust with the stakehplders and internal customers by demonstrating ownership and commitment in the security delivery. Support other functions and business partners to improve security measures. Ensure communication with function country/cluster security managers. Communicate and engage with colleagues within the global security team by actively participating and contributing in global meetings and joint projects.
- Operational support:
- Responsible for the implementation of annual country security planning and the implementation of security objectives (in alignment with the Hitachi Energy global and regional security strategy). Work with the regional security team to schedule, coordinate, and guide training on security topics and crisis management topics for Hitachi Energy personnel and contractors. Participate and support AEO programs for security requirements. Reviews and leads incident investigations within own area of responsibility. Carries out root cause analysis and advises on corrective actions. Participate in the security budget's design and proper local administration.
- Emergency Response and Crisis Management
- The country security manager within Hitachi Energy has the role as crisis coordinator with the responsibility to maintain the crisis management plan, to organize trainings and implementing global processes and routines. The country security manager is a member of the country core crisis team, providing operational support to the country crisis lead and providing subject matter expertise in security crisis.
- Project management:
- Contributes to and/or plans and executes security related projects. Develops and reports on project objectives to the regional head of security and stakeholders.
- Work location
- Hitachi Energy offers a hybrid work position with a mix of time spent in office, on business travel visiting other sites around the country and to some extent the possibility to work from home.

- University degree.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Professional in security management with a minimum of 7 years of experience in public security service and/or private/corporate security service.
- Minimum 5 years experience with physical security/access control.
- Experience in critical infrastructure requiments for physical security.
- Experience in corporate resilience programs.
- Experience with AEO programs (e.g., CTPAT).
- Experience managing security contracts.
- Demonstrated organization, facilitation, written and oral communication, and presentation skills.
- True team player attitude with the ability to multitask.
- Must be able to work under time constraints, accomplish tasks with limited supervision, and respond to short notice assignments.
- Must be able to provide expertise, advice, training, and assistance.
- Proven problem solving skills, including being able to identify issues and find suitable and creative solutions in a timely manner.
