Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. This team is looking for a Software Engineer II. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture.

Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.

Within Power BI, this role focuses on user discovery and engagement. In particular, using AI and ML to help users quickly find and discover the content most valuable to them. As part of an agile team, you would work closely together with engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions that span the technical stack. Partnering closely with product management, and supported by UX design, research and technical architect staff, you'd have ability to both work with (& learn) across the product stack.

Responsibilities

• Own experiences that span across web clients and server-side components.
• Deliver world-class user experiences and planet-scale cloud services to customers in collaboration with engineers, UX designers, and product managers
• Design, code, test, and develop features with quality, maintainability, and end to end ownership
• Own the end-to-end life cycle of your features, from inception to managing it live on production
• Maintain customer focus, considering current and future needs when designing and implementing features.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
  

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  
  

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

• Developing cloud services and products over public platforms of Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Developing and tuning search services with focus on relevancy and ranking.
• Familiarity using or working with AI or machine learning.
  
  

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
