Our Story

We’re David and James, passionate engineers that have been working most of their professional careers in the solar and energy storage industry. Over the years, we have worked with most of the major players in the industry, from developers to O&M teams. We’ve seen a lot of operational challenges and after digging into root causes, we realized that standardizing and streamlining procedures can avoid a lot of those problems. This is why we created SolarGrade, a software platform that empowers operators to be more efficient, effective, and consistent in their work. With fewer issues arising in renewable power operations, investment confidence in the sector will grow, leading to more clean energy deployment, which then results in a healthier planet. We use SolarGrade to efficiently and effectively conduct our technical advisory services.

  • A Field Engineer with field experience in construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC). Knowledgeable in system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performing electrical tests (ISC, VOC, insulation resistance, IV Curve tracing, thermal imaging…), ideally with experience working in Utility and Commercial & Industrial projects
  • Someone obsessed with safety, quality, and reliability who takes a long-term view approach to their work to help reduce future solar and storage system risks
  • A detail-oriented learner, willing to wear different hats and super passionate about solar power and energy storage
  • A forward-thinking person excited to use and contribute to SolarGrade, building software technology to solve industry problems
  • A collaborator who can help grow the team to support the largest customers in the renewables space
  • A scrappy, good communicator, open-minded, entrepreneurial thinker who can make decisions in a resource-limited environment and understand the benefits and trade-offs of the many different solutions available for a given problem

  • Talent for desktop analysis (capacity tests, XCT scans, technical due diligence efforts, etc)
  • Ability to use fieldwork software technology tools and navigate numerous computer applications and technology independently
