Job Description


The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be required to develop facility piping designs and perform a variety of analyses for energy, oil and gas applications. Conducts FEA pipe stress analysis on piping systems to determine structural, thermal and external force effects. Perform analysis, including static or dynamic stress analysis, modal analysis and fatigue analysis of energy infrastructure equipment. Should be familiar with stress effects associated with rotating machinery, pressure vessels and other mechanical systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performing complex technical analysis, including Finite Element model development, failure analysis, material integrity analysis, damage analysis, data plotting, and visualization.
  • Performs corrosion reviews, materials selection, and materials operating envelope development.
  • Provides materials engineering support for Inspection processes, including fixed equipment inspection plans, piping systemization, and circuitization.
  • Supports FFS assessments of existing equipment using API RP 579 Fitness-for-Service (FFS).
  • Provides materials engineering support to other groups including FFS.
  • Provide technical support for projects with engineering expertise for specification, design, and construction of projects following company requirements, industry standards, and regulatory codes.
  • Performs Finite Element modeling and stress analysis to support FFS evaluations, failure investigations, new equipment design, and repairs.
  • Performs ASME and API Code calculations for pressure equipment, in support of design reviews, certification, and re-rates of existing equipment.
  • Works independently under limited direction and guidance.
  • Presents engineering research, findings, solutions, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Develops and presents complex technical information clearly, concisely, and effectively.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or another industry-related field required
  • Minimum six (6) years of industry-related experience
  • Experience with large oil and/or gas facilities. Qualified candidates must have experience in one or more of the following categories: compressor stations, pump stations, gas processing, filtration/separation, CNG, LNG, measurement and regulation.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer strongly preferred, or ability to obtain PE within first year of employment.
