Position Summary

he Sr Mgr – Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) provides leadership, teamwork and coordination across regional and/or divisional operations to ensure successful deployment of EH&S strategies and systems. This position works to continuously improve and drive the maturity of multiple site safety plans, assuring the highest possible degree of safety for employees and compliance for the company.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participates and helps lead the Global EH&S Steering Committee
  • Leads and provides guidance on the implementation of the Health & Safety strategy and strategic objectives.
  • Actively engages with divisional leadership to ensure EH&S compliance while improving operational results.
  • Promotes safety culture throughout the division through leadership of site safety generalists and managers.
  • Leads the continuous improvement of policies and programs.to compliment ISO and VPP initiatives.,
  • Develops process and standards for collection and analysis of data relating to occupational and environmental safety and health issues such as chemical exposure, noise, dusts, vapors, mists, solvents, behaviors, and ergonomics which are known or suspected of being real or potential detriments to health.
  • Ensures corrective action follow through after safety evaluations and hazardous waste evaluations are performed.
  • Manages and supports the implementation and sustainment of OSHA VPP and ISO 18001/45001 safety systems as applicable to specific sites..
  • Monitors, analyzes and evaluates key performance indicators to drive EHS performance
  • Develops and executes communication solutions to enable efficient, accurate, and comprehensive divisional reporting and information exchange, including communication of accidents, near misses and change management.
  • Support management system implementation and/or compliance as needed (e.g., ISO 14001. ISO 45001, OSHA VPPA, etc.).
  • Develops and leads the execution of initiatives designed to identify, evaluate, prevent and control EH&S related hazards through means such as, but not limited to:
    • Comprehensive assessments of critical programs such as fire prevention, driver/vehicle and hazard identification and prevention.
    • Environmental management systems and programs (e.g., ISO 14001 compliant or certified sites).
  • Maintains dotted-line reporting relationship with site EH&S resources. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering or related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
  • 8 years progressive Health and Safety leadership experience in manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred experience with Industrial Hygiene, Silica, Lead, Process Safety Management, Flammables, Hazardous Waste, Regulatory Compliance, Auditing, Ergonomics, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA VPP, ISO 14001/45001, ESG, and Environmental regulations including Title V permitting.
  • 5 years in an operations leadership role (direct or indirect).
  • Periodic travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required. Travel is expected at 50-75%.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook and Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), and planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, and reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
