#NationalHispanicHeritageMonth is a time to honor and share the rich cultures and histories of Hispanic Americans.  This year’s theme is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.” The observation began as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968, led by two Hispanic politicians, Edward R. Roybal and Henry B. Gonzales, under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration. In 1988, the observance expanded to cover a 30-day annual period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. This month and beyond, we recognize Hispanics who have inspired and paved the way for past, present, and future generations and their importance to the American story. We invite you to join us in celebrating Enviva’s own Hispanic pioneers who continue to positively impact our communities, forests, and the climate while bringing their valuable talents and perspectives to Enviva every day.

The wood pellet industry accounts for just .08% of annual harvest removals in relation to forest inventory in the US South. It’s a small but integral part of the larger forestry sector that is helping our forests thrive through strong markets for wood products and sustainable management practices. Alabama Forestry Association President & CEO Chris Isaacson and his outstanding staff did a fantastic job hosting the 2024 Annual Meeting earlier this week in Orange Beach, AL. Enviva’s Director of Fiber Procurement Brad Young, Senior Commodity Manager Elizabeth McCombs, and Community Relations Manager Rick Frederick enjoyed supporting the event with a sponsorship and exhibitor table, at which they spent valuable time with Alabama landowners, state agencies, and a variety of industry leaders in the forestry sector from across the U.S. Southeast. There was much excitement and anticipation around Enviva’s opening of the world’s largest wood pellet plant in Epes, Al, which allowed for great conversations about future planning and collaboration with many of our partners and friends in the forestry community.  www.alaforestry.org #EnvivaProud

Enviva enjoyed supporting the Port of Pascagoula last week as it hosted We Work The Waterways, a national education outreach program of Ports, Inland Rivers and Terminals to build lasting connections between communities and the people who make up the maritime, shipping, and logistics industries. The event welcomed 200 local high school students eager to explore the wide range of careers related to the maritime industry. Enviva’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager, Micheal Beal, and Community Relations Manager, Rick Frederick, presented on the importance of safety in the workplace with a demonstration on the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Along with other local industry leaders, it was exciting to witness the enthusiasm of the students as they explored the possibilities of a rewarding career in the maritime industry.  #EnvivaProud https://lnkd.in/e_jR6QZQ

Another fantastic opportunity this week for Enviva to support one of our valued forestry partners by sponsoring the Florida Forestry Association’s 2024 Annual Meeting in Amelia Island, Fl. Enviva’s Community Relations Manager Rick Frederick and Sustainability Standards Manager Shawn Cook were honored to attend the conference and host Enviva’s Exhibitor Table. Keynote presentations by Florida’s United States Congresswoman Kat Cammack and Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Wilton Simpson highlighted the week’s events. The conference provided a perfect blend of collaboration and education, while allowing time for fellowship and relationship building. Topics covered included opportunities for resilience in Florida’s forestry practices, use of AI to quantify environmental services, prescribed burnings, European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), as well as forest economics and market forecast. Enviva’s Shawn Cook also represented the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) during the event. #FLForestry24 #EnvivaProud
