Sr. Scientist
Prellis Biologics uses proprietary technology to 3D print lymph node organoids, which we are using to generate in vitro antibody libraries and in vitro human lymph node cocultures for generating antigen-specific B-cells. We are seeing a Sr. Scientist to join our Antibody Screening team. This role will be responsible for developing a robust protein production pipeline and generating protein conjugations to support the externalized immune system (EXIS) workflows. The successful candidate will have a strong background in protein chemistry and bioconjugation techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to, plasmid vector design and construction, fragment design, recombinant cloning, and high-throughput PCR
Develop a robust production workflow for reagent development – implement and refine techniques for scalable protein production in various expression systems (e.g. bacterial, insect, mammalian cells)
Develop protein purification and QC protocols, including but not limited to, FPLC, HPLC, SDS-PAGE, and MS, for new reagents that are developed
Synthesize and purify protein conjugates to support EXIS workflow development. This may involve conjugating small molecules, fluorophores, and biomolecules to proteins of interest
Collaborate with internalteams to test the performance of protein conjugates and other reagents that are developed. Troubleshoot issues as needed
Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assays and reagent preparations. Maintain detailed experimental records
Experience with NGS and sequence analysis is a plus
Experience with immunogen design is a plus
Experience with flow cytometry techniques is a plus
Skills and Experience:
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Bioengineering with a strong academic record. Outstanding M.S. candidates with relevant experience will be considered. Must have 3-5 years of revelent industry experience.
Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as SPR, Octet, ELISAs, UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and liquid chromatography is desired.
Rigorous scientist with a recordof designing and executing carefulexperiments, maintaining detailed experimental records, and developing robust, transferrable processes.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Able to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative start-up environment.
