Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for a Staff Accountant for our busy Specialty Practice. The Staff Accountant is responsible for the analysis, preparation, and maintenance of financial records and reports. In addition to overseeing financial data transactions, this position also reviews, analyzes, and balances assigned general ledger accounts and assists with month and year-end closing process and preparation of financial statements. The Staff Accountant ensures that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, and prepares and distributes required reports and journal entries as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Reviews, analyzes, balances, and/or reconciles assigned general ledger accounts and other accounting transactions
• Verifies, inputs, and retrieves financial data transactions in the computer system
• Utilizes spreadsheet programs and computer database systems to retrieve a wide variety of routine to complex accounting and financial data, reports, and information
• Maintains fixed assets for company
• Assists with month and year-end closing processes and financial statement preparation
• Compiles, generates, and distributes required reports
• Prepares and posts journal entries
• Ensures all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly along with supporting documentation
• Manages company inventory, corresponding purchases, and auditing of inventory systems
• Performs ad hoc financial analysis and any other special projects as needed
• Prepare and submit any tax related documents in relation to sales tax and 1099 transactions
• Maintain compliance with escheat laws
• Prepare and provides Auditors with necessary information to perform annual audit
• All other duties as assigned

Additional Skills And Abilities

• General knowledge of office practices and organization procedures
• Strong understanding of current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, to include accepted budgeting and cost accounting principles
• Requires a strong understanding of Excel to include advanced formulas and pivot tables.
• Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Dynamics software, other Microsoft Office programs, PDF, and Internet programs
• Excellent reading and writing skills, especially in regards to policy drafting
  
  

Education And/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a business related field
• Minimum of three or more years’ experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a medical setting
