See who The Build Tank, LLC has hired for this role
At the Build Tank, we help social impact organizations renew the promise of technology platforms, using a human-centered model of technology stewardship to superpower staff, amplify impact, and ultimately help transform the organization.
As we grow, we are seeking an ace Project Manager to own the delivery of projects in close collaboration with the rest of the team. This is a remote role (pacific time zone working hours preferred) that would join a small consulting team helping forward-thinking social sector organizations leverage technology to its potential.
Note that this is not primarily a technology role. Rather it’s primarily a people and project management role.
We're looking for someone who:
At The Build Tank, we help forward-thinking organizations overcome technology dysfunction. Specifically, we help nonprofit organizations develop excellence at building and stewarding platform technology, such as Salesforce CRMs and/or websites, that support and power their critical work.
Our model flips the more stereotypical approach to technology on its head. We build and incubate teams of technology ‘allies’ who actively partner with colleagues to strategically understand their work and their challenges, setting the technology up beautifully to solve problems while ensuring that staff are empowered to use it well.
It doesn’t just change the game for technology, it changes the game for the people doing this work, and ultimately for the people and causes being impacted.

We're looking for someone who:
- Is a natural project manager. It seems to flow through your veins, from followup to organization to communication to strategically thinking ahead. You’re a strategic thinker at both a big picture and highly detailed level, so when given a project you are already thinking ahead about the sequencing of milestones and tasks, and you find satisfaction in helping all the pieces work in concert with each other
- Is familiar with the nonprofit/social sector. That’s especially true around the use of Salesforce and technology to support work, but having general familiarity in a social sector setting is important to successfully navigating our projects
- Is a great teammate. Positive, collaborative, with a can-do attitude, and with the necessary project management talent for a realistic view of timelines and capacity
- Is an excellent communicator. Both verbal and written. Nuance matters!
- Is a continual learner and highly adaptable. Comes in with opinions and experience about how to manage projects, but also open to learning and adapting, and to becoming a skilled user and improver of task management systems (we currently use Asana) and processes
- Is reliable, precise, detail oriented, and self motivated
- Has an appreciation for collaboration. Enjoys engaging with teammates with thoughtfulness and a sense of camaraderie, and appreciates the value of hashing through things to get to a better place
- Creating project and engagement plans and taking leadership to own, iterate, and ensure execution on them
- Coordinating with various external and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless and professional communication and follow up
- Tracking projects, tasks, and next steps across multiple clients
- Debriefing client calls to define and harvest next steps and ensure followup
- Interfacing with clients around processes and materials
- Creating initial drafts of meeting agendas and other communications as needed
- Contributing ideas for improving internal processes or external client experience
- Taking the lead on administrative systems in coordination with the rest of the team
- 4-5 years experience in a project management role, ideally managing complex projects / multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred
- High level of proficiency with project management platforms (Asana preferred)
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and change management skills
- Experience working with nonprofit / social impact organizations is a must
- Familiarity with using Salesforce is a plus
- Agency experience preferred but not required
- Please include a cover letter and either a resume or your LinkedIn profile (one is required)
- Salary range: $100-120K DOE, with benefits offered
