Job Summary

The Head of Talent is responsible for all areas of talent acquisition and employer branding activities for the region while also coordinating early talent programs. This role offers the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of our talent initiatives and support other North American leaders as needed. You will play a crucial role in shaping and executing a talent strategy that addresses current and future needs, promotes the company as an employer of choice, and ensures the efficient and innovative recruitment of top talent. This position currently has one direct report, an HR Recruiter.

Key Duties

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Talent Strategy Development: Collaborate with the Regional HR Director and other key stakeholders to develop and implement medium- and long-term talent strategies to address current and future organizational needs, ensuring alignment with the company’s business objectives and US labor market trends. Ensure the talent acquisition strategy aligns with the broader HR strategy, providing consultative advice to enhance HR objectives and deliver business value, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Employer Branding: Promote the company as an employer of choice through in-person events, digital media, and strategic partnerships with industry groups, enhancing our presence in the candidate market and increasing brand visibility.
  • Senior Level Recruitment: Lead senior-level and strategic recruitment across the region, ensuring a professional and proactive approach to identifying and selecting top talent, leveraging executive search firms as necessary.
  • Training and Coaching: Provide training, coaching, and advice to managers and HR peers to ensure efficient recruitment processes and adoption of innovative practices, including the use of technology and data analytics.
  • Career Pathway Mapping: Support the HR Director and broader HR team with annual career pathway mapping and talent review processes to ensure clear career development opportunities, including succession planning and leadership development programs.
  • Early Career Programs: Take ownership of the early career apprentice and graduate programs at a regional level, ensuring effective program management, partnerships with universities, and monitoring ROI.
  • Campus Recruitment Activities: Plan and execute campus recruitment activities along with the HR Recruiter, fostering relationships with universities and colleges. Develop and manage internship and co-op programs to attract and nurture emerging talent.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to attract and retain talent, driving innovative practices and process enhancements, including leveraging artificial intelligence and other technologies.
  • Performance Indicators: Own key performance indicators related to talent attraction and retention, creating actionable insights to drive improvements, and regularly reporting to senior leadership on metrics and trends.
  • Engagement and Promotion: Work closely with ERG and communication teams to capture and promote news stories that drive engagement and promote the organization as an ethical and attractive employer externally.
  • Talent Mobility: Manage talent mobility programs to facilitate internal transfers and career progression opportunities, supporting employees in their career development aspirations within the organization.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Analyze recruitment metrics and attrition data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership on recruitment performance and workforce planning.
  • Agency Relationships & Audits: Manage relationships with external recruitment agencies, ensuring high-quality service and performance. Conduct regular audits of agency performance and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Global HR Network: Collaborate with the Global Head of Talent & HR Systems and global HR network to capture best practices from other regions and build strong working relationships within the wider HR community.
  • HR Projects: Lead HR projects related to talent as requested by the HR Director and identify new projects to drive best practices in the region.

Qualifications

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Knowledge And Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior talent acquisition or HR leadership role, preferably within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment best practices, talent management, and employer branding.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, influence and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, generate insights, and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

Physical Demands

Able to walk, stand or sit for a minimum of 8 hours per day. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
