Role/Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with deep knowledge of the reinsurance industry. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze business processes, gather requirements, and provide recommendations that drive operational efficiency and improve business outcomes in reinsurance.


The Technical BSA will be performing the major functions listed below. The position may require additional duties/responsibilities that may not be outlined below, and specific functions are subject to change:

  • Requirement Gathering & Analysis:

- Work with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements related to reinsurance policies, claims, and underwriting processes.

- Conduct workshops, interviews, and focus groups to understand client needs and translate them into functional specifications.

  • Process Improvement:

- Analyze existing reinsurance business processes and identify areas for improvement in operational efficiency.

- Recommend solutions to streamline reinsurance workflows, including policy administration, claims handling, risk management, and reporting.

  • System Implementation & Testing:

- Collaborate with IT teams and third-party vendors to implement reinsurance software solutions.

- Define user stories, functional requirements, and technical specifications.

- Assist in system configuration and integration with other insurance platforms.

- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure that the system meets business needs.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting:

- Analyze reinsurance data, including premium, loss ratios, and risk exposure.

- Create and maintain dashboards and reports to provide insights to management for decision-making.

- Ensure data integrity and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Stakeholder Management:

- Serve as a liaison between business users, IT teams, and external reinsurance partners.

- Communicate complex business and technical concepts to stakeholders at various levels.

  • Compliance & Regulatory Requirements:

- Ensure that all reinsurance processes and systems comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

- Keep up-to-date with changes in regulations impacting reinsurance and update internal processes as necessary.

  • Documentation & Training:

- Create comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, process flows, and user guides.

- Provide training to end-users on new systems and processes.


Qualifications and Key Skillset for this Role

  • Educational Background:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.

- An advanced degree or certification (e.g., CBAP, PMP) is a plus.

  • Relevant Experience:

- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within the Insurance or Reinsurance domain.

- Strong understanding of reinsurance concepts, including treaty and facultative reinsurance, pricing models, risk management, and claims handling.

  • Technical Skills:

- Experience with reinsurance administration systems (e.g., SAP FS-RI, SICS, etc.).

- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar).

- Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.

  • Soft Skills:

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Industrial/Professional Certifications:

- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)

- Professional Risk Manager (PRM)

- Reinsurance certifications (e.g., Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) / AINS-24 (General Insurance for IT and Support Professionals) / similar)
