Temporary Full Time College & Career Specialist

Job Description

Lorain County Community College (LCCC) has partnered with Ohio College Tech Prep for nearly three decades to build, expand, and maintain high-quality pathways for career-technical students in Lorain and surrounding counties. The College & Career Program Specialist (CCPS) for Career Technical Education (CTE) provides services to career centers and high schools through college and career readiness initiatives and programs. This includes the documentation of curriculum alignment between K12 and LCCC coursework leading to the establishment of stackable pathways; management of student-centered processes related to admissions, credit capture, and scholarships; creation of career-connected exploration opportunities; coordination of campus visits; and support of statewide initiatives such as College Tech Prep, College Credit Plus and Transfer Credit Ohio Student Programs. The CCPS must be self-motivated starter who can work independently and in teams, with capacity for exercising innovation, and strong skills in developing, organizing and overseeing work plans.

Qualifications

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree with 3-4 or more years of relevant experience in secondary or higher education with college and career programs at the high school or college level, career-technical education or administration, or project management in an education setting.

Experience Preferred: Strong verbal and written skills to build interpersonal relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders including students/parents, teachers/administrators, and business/industry/community partners. Experience within admissions, career services, K12 career-technical education, enrollment services, TRIO/educational opportunity programs, or student services. Understanding of K12 career-technical education, College Credit Plus, the mission of community colleges and in-demand industries in Northeast Ohio. Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, document and execute projects from start to finish; including the development of data reports. Facilitate classroom visits, campus events and experiences, and professional development workshops/seminars to students/families and educators/administrators. Adept at utilizing software applications and systems to include customer relationship management, student information systems, MS Office and Teams, and WordPress.

Established in 1963, Lorain County Community College is the first community college in Ohio with a permanent campus. For six decades, LCCC has served the diverse needs of greater Lorain County region by providing affordable access to higher education and now serves approximately 13,000 students each year in certificate, associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.

Since 1963, one in four Lorain County residents have taken classes at LCCC and more than 43,000 have earned a degree. LCCC was recently ranked in the top 10% of most affordable colleges in the nation and more than 90% of LCCC graduates live and work in Northeast Ohio. 45% of Lorain County’s high school graduates earn college credits through LCCC’s high school dual enrollment programs. LCCC also partners with more than 700 employers and offers 170 industry-recognized credentials to better prepare the workforce for the future.

LCCC is a dynamic, student-centered college intentionally designed to support individuals with balancing multiple roles on their path to college completion. 85% of LCCC students work while attending college, with majority working at least half-time. The average age of LCCC’s students is 24, and many bring life experiences that include caring for dependents, serving in the military, or completing some prior college. Over 80% of LCCC students received financial assistance through grants and scholarships, and LCCC has been nationally recognized for holistic, fully integrated services and commitment to student success.
