Tool and Die Maker/ Mold Maker

We have an immediate opening for a Tool and Die Maker at our 621 Brentwood Drive facility.

Hours are 6:30 am – 3 pm, Monday thru Friday.

Ensures proper and timely operation and maintenance of all stamping tools and equipment. Works closely with set-up, maintenance, production supervisors and management to facilitate timely completion of orders. Active troubleshooting to solve production/ set-up issues. Communicate effectively with all levels of personnel both in writing and verbally. Build and service progressive punch and dies to support manufacturing. Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Read and understand blueprints.
  • Measures, marks, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, radial drill press, surface grinders, and band saws.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Knows and understands progressive punch & dies, able to build and service tools.
  • Understands punch press operations to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-balance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Knows and understands punch & dies, able to build and service tools.
  • Maintain department housekeeping and 5S program requirements.
  • Perform all work procedures according to established Quality Management & Environmental Management Systems.
  • Perform job responsibilities and tasks in compliance with company policies, procedures and safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Skills
  • Diploma from a relevant High School Vocational program or a two-year degree from a technical college; and two to four years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Journeyman with NTMA Papers preferred.
  • 10-15+ years Stamping Punch/Die, Thermoforming Mold Making, Tool and die Making, Plastic Injection Mold Making, Foundry Pattern Making, Machine Building or Precision Manual Machining.
  • Tow Motor certification, overhead crane training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
