The Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting credit applications, as well as ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines. This role demands a high level of quality and precision, with strict adherence to processing timelines.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing and analyzing credit applications to determine creditworthiness.
  • Must assess financial statements, credit reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and company policies for new and existing loans.
  • Must act as a line of defense in managing reconciliations, identifying crop mix changes, as well as out of compliance issues.
  • Provide analytical reviews for any loan amendments or modifications.
  • Ensure all credit decisions are documented accurately and comprehensively.
  • Responsible for the following metrics:
    • $0-1mm dispositioned in 30 minutes.
    • $1-3mm dispositioned in 45 minutes
    • $3mm+ dispositioned in one (1) hour.
    • Clear all conditions on files within 2 hours of receipt.
    • Address and clear risk review failed files within 2 hours of receipt.
    • Reconciliation completed in Synthesis within 30 minutes every time there is a payment processed.
    • Underwrite and review loan for adjustment after Insurance certification.
    • Send loan documents within 15 minutes of final approval.
    • Addendums sent within 15 minutes of reconciliation completion.
    • Respond to and process customer-requested changes, including conducting verification calls.
    • Maintain a quality score of 90% or higher with 99% accuracy based on quality audit scores.
Experience, Qualifications And Requirements

  • Preferred Degree in banking, finance, accounting, statistics, or economics-related field.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a banking or finance-related field.
  • Experience in commercial credit underwriting / analysis.
  • Completion of a credit training program preferred.
  • Experience in underwriting or a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel, on occasion, as needed by the Company.
