ProAg is looking for someone to join our Underwriting team who is innovative, can build relationships, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible for managing projects and brings value through operations. This position identifies, distinguishes, and analyzes multiple components of a problem and makes conclusions using high-level quantitative skills. Performs effective operations analysis, identifies performance trends, interprets data, and composes process documents. Our underwriting staff builds meaningful, long-lasting relationships and serves as a subject matter expert for internal and external customers.

In This Exciting Opportunity You Will

  • Prepare and deliver insights and recommendations based on analyses.
  • Responsible for ensuring process documents are up to date and creating new processes as needed.
  • Attend and participate in agent training schools periodically at the request of Regional Offices.
  • Serve as underwriting department gatekeeper for processing system issues related to MPCI and livestock.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on IT related projects.
  • Prepare and deliver insights and recommendations based on analyses.
  • Responsible for ensuring process documents are up to date and creating new processes as needed.
  • Attend and participate in agent training schools periodically at the request of Regional Offices.
  • Assist Underwriting and Error Resolution staff as needed.

What You Will Bring

The ideal candidate for the Underwriting Analyst position will have demonstrated success in the primary areas of focus and responsibility.

Experience – Ideally, The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • A minimum of five years of relevant and progressive professional experience.
  • Previous agriculture or crop insurance industry experience.
  • Educational Requirements. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of MPCI policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the proficient knowledge and interpretation of Risk Management Agency (RMA)/Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).

For candidates working in person or remotely in California, the reasonable pay range for each title is:

Underwriting Analyst $60,000 - $80,000
