About The Role
We're on the lookout for a dynamic Underwriting Manager to join our team in New York, NY. In this pivotal role, you'll strategically lead and develop a team of underwriting professionals within your designated region. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing the profitability and productivity of your team, underwriting and managing assigned business portfolios, and implementing effective marketing strategies to drive growth in your region.
Key Responsibilities
Build and nurture a high-performing team of underwriting professionals.
Underwrite and manage a designated book of business, ensuring adherence to profitability targets.
Develop and implement marketing strategies to enhance brand presence and drive business growth.
Delegate underwriting authority and ensure compliance within the assigned region.
Conduct quality control audits and provide training as necessary.
Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including agents and prospective clients.
Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes.
Administer performance reviews, salary assessments, and attendance records for your team.
Utilize management reports and analytics tools to monitor team performance and individual underwriter results.
Participate in state pricing reviews, budget planning, and territory evaluations.
Location Flexibility:
Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is permitted, offering you the flexibility to work from a location that suits your needs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Accounting, Auditing, Financial Actuarial Mathematics, or a closely related field.
Minimum of one year of experience in underwriting or a related occupation.
Proficiency in multi-line underwriting and marketing.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk, analyze financial statements, and interpret market trends.
Familiarity with insurance regulations, compliance requirements, and underwriting software systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization software.

Base Salary
The base salary for this position ranges from $87,818 to $110,000 annually, excluding additional compensation and benefits. Final offers will be determined based on factors such as prior experience, expertise, and current market data.
