The Utilities Manager will play a critical role in the successful execution of a large-scale rail line extension project. This position is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive planning, coordination, and execution of utility protection and relocation activities.


We seek a highly skilled professional with a proven track record in managing complex utility relocation projects within the transportation sector. Ideal candidates will possess in-depth experience in designing and coordinating the relocation of various utilities, including gas, communications, and steam lines, within public right-of-way areas. A strong background supporting rail projects is essential.


This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional project management and stakeholder relationship skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions to overcome challenges and ensure the timely completion of utility relocation activities.


What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utility owners to ensure project alignment.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for utility relocation, including scope definition, procurement, and execution.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to review and approve utility work plans.
  • Manage utility contractor performance and deliverables.
  • Conduct cost estimates and contract negotiations for relocation projects.
  • Maintain detailed records of utility-related correspondence and activities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the client's utility relocation procedures.
  • Perform engineering calculations as needed for project requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, design specifications, and bid documents.
  • Foster effective collaboration with internal and external teams.
  • Adhere to strict health and safety protocols.


What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in utility relocation for roadway or transportation projects.Proven experience managing design teams on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating with third-party utility companies.
  • Strong understanding of rail project delivery and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in engineering calculations and design software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
