UX Designer


Note: San Antonio, TX or surrounding area, OR Austin, TX - Either location would work, candidate expected to occasionally be at office when required by client, other days WFH.


As UX / UI designer you will measure and optimize applications to improve ease of use (usability) and create the best user experience by exploring many different approaches to solve end-user problems. One way that a UX designer might do this is by conducting in-person user tests to observe behavior. They then refine and tweak apps, software and websites to create products people like and find easy to use.


Responsibilities:

  • Considering existing/new applications and evaluating their UX (user experience) effectiveness
  • Considering the human-computer interaction (HCI) element of a design
  • Using online tools, such as screen readers for accessibility testing of applications, software and websites
  • Defining interaction models, user task flows, and UI (user interface) specifications
  • Communicating scenarios (hypothetical users), end-to-end experiences, interaction models, and screen designs to other people working on a product
  • Keep the interface beautiful and easy to use
  • Manage visual appearance of all new features and enhancements on our software and mobile applications
  • Initiate, suggest, and spearhead major UI refactoring for a more intuitive user experience
  • Design elegant solutions to complex workflows and things that people will talk about
  • Creating style guidelines for current/new application.


Requirements:


Must have work experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience providing User Experience and User Interface design solutions for web and mobile applications
  • Experienced in developing wireframes, workflows, prototypes, and personas
  • Excellent knowledge of User Centered Design processes and usability principles
  • Strong User Interface skills (design patterns, iconography, imagery production, etc)
  • Able to generate multiple User Experience solutions for a given problem

Common requirements:

  • Strong experience working as a UX designer or similar
  • Provide excellent service to Development and End Users
  • Work well under pressure, able to prioritize workload
  • Excellent time management, able to hit deadlines
  • Be a recognized expert on core product features
  • Ability to work outside normal hours when needed to support critical activities or deadlines
  • Fluent communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Practical understanding of agile methodology (Scrum or Kanban)
