THE ROLE:?

The Vice President, Brand & Marketing role at EBONY is an entrepreneurial visionary who lives and breathe culture and is passionate about EBONY’s legacy, and its commitment to delivering excellence to the global Black?community. As the Vice President of Brand & Marketing, you will be instrumental in leading and supporting the execution of brand strategies, ensuring a strong brand identity, increased brand awareness, and enhanced loyalty. Working closely with the EVP of Brand and Marketing, you will play a key role in bringing the brand position in the marketplace. This role involves hands-on planning, a pulse on culture, trends and partners, budget management, and team leadership to support the overall success of the organization. The Vice President of Brand & Marketing will have direct reports, with the possibility of adding additional roles as required by the business. This is a game-changing and exciting opportunity to reimagine one of the most well-known and beloved media brands in the world.?

Responsibilities

Marketing & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns that elevate the brand, inspire EBONY readers, contribute to revenue growth, and strategically position EBONY in the marketplace through unique partnerships.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive long-lead planning calendars for current and future year(s) inclusive of key milestones, aligning the EBONY brand with key partnerships, opportunities and moments in time are actionable
  • Build and maintain a dynamic portfolio of connections and partners through networking, proactive and reactive outreach, and leveraging personal contacts to support EBONY’s strategies and tactics, enhancing brand awareness and advocacy.
  • Develop tactical frameworks for marketing campaigns by translating overarching strategies and guidance into actionable marketing plans ready for deployment.
  • Lead the relationship with our PR agency of record, ensuring they effectively drive brand awareness, relevancy, and attention to EBONY through strategic campaigns and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., special events/experiential and brand solutions) to develop, influence and execute branded partnerships opportunities and EBONY-first marketing amplification plans that extend the reach, relevancy, and brand position throughout the organization
  • Utilize data analytics to inform marketing strategies, including consumer insights, market trends, and performance metrics.
  • Has a natural pulse on culture, trends, and happenings to quickly action opportunities for the brand

Visionary Leadership

  • Manage and grow a talent, inspiring and mentoring them to reach their full potential and fostering an innovative, collaborative culture
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across departments within the organization
  • Support experimentation with new marketing channels, technologies, and tactics to stay ahead of the curve.

Performance / Excellence

  • Monitor consistency of brand across all touch points.
  • Track brand metrics, customer surveys, and market share to gauge the effectiveness of brand identity efforts – for overall brand, campaigns, and partner activities
  • Ensure overall brand & marketing team meets minimum baselines for benchmarks and KPIs
  • Position EBONY as a thought leader and innovator in the media through speaking engagements, industry partnerships, and thought leadership content.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in brand, marketing, strategy, public relations, and analytics
  • A demonstrated ability to shape and implement a brand’s growth through executing of marketing strategy and campaigns.
  • Proven track record of award-winning marketing/campaign strategies and executions.
  • Previous experience in leading go-to-market campaigns and developing integrated, cross-channel marketing plans.
  • Has an active ongoing roster of connections and organizational partners that can support advancement of EBONY’s strategies and tactics
  • Player and coach mentality - ability to set the creative vision but also execute against it. Strong leadership and team management skills to inspire, mentor, and guide the creative team effectively
  • EBONY is an incredibly fast-paced and creatively demanding environment and creatives will have to balance many projects at once with tight deadlines and production schedules.?
