Vice President, Capture Management

Background

ERT has a robust 30+ year history of providing exceptional support to our customers at federal agencies such as NOAA, NASA, and the US Air Force. This history has seen ERT graduate from a small, woman-owned business into a growing, well-rounded organization.

In 2024, ERT received a major investment from Macquarie Capital, marking a new chapter for the company. Macquarie will help ERT continue its strong pattern of sustained growth and expand its capabilities into new areas. With this investment and plan for growth, ERT is looking to bring on a Vice President of Capture Management to strengthen and lead the build out of ERT’s business development capabilities.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced capture professional to have a meaningful impact on the company’s growth culture and results. The ideal candidate will bring fresh ideas and a passion for building out a successful capture strategy for ERT as we move forward.

Position Description

The Vice President, Capture Management serves as pursuit lead for ERT’s highest priority opportunities and is responsible for building in-depth understanding of client needs, driving the development of differentiated solutions, and building winning teams comprised of both ERT staff and partner firms. This position is an important component of ERT’s ongoing expansion of its growth function and will allow the company to take full advantage of its strong pipeline, differentiated offerings, and outstanding growth trajectory.

This Vice President-level position reports to the company’s head of business development and involves working both within ERT as well as out in the market. It is considered a corporate role and will be continually collaborating with other ERT functions (e.g., recruiting, pricing, marketing) based out of our corporate headquarters in Laurel, Maryland. This position may be performed remotely with travel as needed for in-person meetings.

The VP. Capture is expected to have and continue to develop a robust professional network consisting of target federal government clients (NASA, NOAA, and DoD, among others), industry partners, academics, FFRDCs, and government laboratories to enhance the company’s understanding of client mission priorities, current infrastructure and programs, future requirements, and organizations.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Developing capture plans (including milestones and schedules) and leading teams in the implementation of these plans for $100M+ new business opportunities.
  • Serving as the primary interface with clients for target capture opportunities.
  • Planning, leading, and supporting client engagement activities for target capture opportunities, including:
  • Developing and continually refining our understanding of client needs and priorities
  • Educating client and industry partners on ERT capabilities
  • Maintaining relationships with current and potential clients and industry partners, while seeking to secure additional and expanded relationships
  • Leading development of proposal win themes and differentiated technical solutions that leverage the full suite of ERT capabilities and experience.
  • Mentoring business development, program management, and technical staff in best practices for business development and capture.
  • Making meaningful contributions to proposals for target capture opportunities, including drafting and reviewing key sections of proposals.
  • Continually collecting market intelligence relevant to the company’s strategic priorities and ensuring this information is shared with all relevant ERT staff.
  • Contributing to the continual refinement of ERT’s capture playbook


Required Skills

  • 15 years of experience with demonstrated success in leading capture for $100M+ opportunities.
  • Must have proven ability to educate and influence Federal clients regarding procurement strategies for opportunities similar to those ERT pursues.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders and to provide leadership within the workplace; demonstrated people management skills; and excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Experience and successful record of developing capture plans and teams for new business opportunities is required.
  • Ability to pass background checks necessary to obtain and maintain security clearance.


Education

BS degree or equivalent in engineering, information technology, math, physics, physical science, other technical discipline. MBA or MS in technical or management discipline preferred.

Location

Remote with as needed travel for in-person meetings.
