Our utility-scale IPP client is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our executive committee as Vice President of Business Development. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in driving our continued growth in the North American renewable energy market.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive business development strategy for acquiring new utility-scale renewable energy projects across North America.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate the acquisition of promising renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and risk tolerance.
- Oversee a team of business development professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to drive high performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the renewable energy industry, including developers, financiers, and policymakers.
- Conduct thorough financial due diligence for potential company acquisitions within the renewable energy space, working closely with internal M&A teams to identify and secure strategic targets.
- Lead the creation of compelling investment theses for project acquisitions and company acquisitions, presenting proposals to the executive committee and securing approvals.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, analyzing market dynamics, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to the development of long-term renewable energy growth strategy, identifying new market opportunities and business models.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in business development or project acquisition within the renewable energy sector.
- Proven track record of successfully originating, evaluating, and closing complex renewable energy project acquisitions.
- In-depth knowledge of the North American renewable energy market, including regulatory landscape, project financing structures, and key industry players.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in financial modeling, due diligence, and transaction structuring.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strategic thinking and a results-oriented mindset with a passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
