Description/Job Summary

The Vice President of Department of Energy (DOE) Environmental Services will report to Lindahl Reed’s Senior Vice President and DOE Practice Lead (Jeff Baker) and will support and drive growth across Lindahl Reed’s rapidly expanding environmental practice area. The position will be a key member of Lindahl Reed’s leadership team and will be responsible for delivery of business growth, customer and partnership development, and financial performance of the DOE environmental business practice. The position will be responsible for strategic planning, opportunity identification, partnership development, team development, customer relationships, capture of new opportunities, and execution of contracts. The Vice President of DOE Environmental Services will apply knowledge of customer organizational structure and leverage relationships to lead growth, including acquisition strategies; teaming partnerships; technical solutions, and funding. The position will support cross-cutting programs to understand and address complex issues associated with DOE’s and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) environmental, science and technology programs with a focus on environmental and nuclear management, cleanup, and restoration. The Vice President of DOE Environmental Services will be responsible for leading teams of scientists, engineers, researchers, analysts, specialist, and subject matter experts in support of DOE Environmental Management and related mission requirements. The Vice President of DOE Environmental Services is responsible for leveraging and integrating multiple technical offerings to meet customer needs. The Vice President of DOE Environmental Services will be strategic, passionate, and inspired to drive growth and create impact, with exceptional leadership skills to motivate teams across the organization.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provides visionary leadership, direction, operational oversight, and development and execution of the strategic direction of the organization’s DOE environmental practice.
  • Provides analysis, insights, and advice on environmental practice strategy, direction, and execution to align with key organizational principles and objectives. Advises leadership team on issues relevant to overall strategy, growth, customers, performance, and potential risks.
  • Collaborates closely with other executive leaders and/or Practice Leads to support the development and implementation of the strategic business development vision/plans.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact with DOE Environmental Management for all technical, contractual, and administrative aspects of mission support contracts, including interface with DOE leadership, Contracting Officers, Contracting Officer Representatives, and Technical Site Leads. Builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors, and other stakeholders involved in the projects.
  • Identify and build relationships with key decision-makers at all levels within client and partner organization (federal, state, commercial) particularly in relation to market positioning and capture planning.
  • Responsible for the staffing, management, quality, and performance of all task orders under awarded contract. Analyzes requirements, determines appropriate support configuration, assigns responsibilities, sets deadlines, establishes costs, and monitors and summarizes progress of project.
  • Provides personnel oversight and management, including support of the recruitment, hiring, and performance of all supervisory duties necessary to maintain qualified staff to complete task orders used under this contract.
  • Provides expert support in the areas of executive management, strategic planning, environmental management, regulatory oversight, baseline management, waste management, quality assurance auditing for certification activities, safety oversight, and environmental compliance activities, and public and regulatory stakeholder' communications and relations.
  • Manages overall portfolio of environmental and related programs and projects.
  • Ensures proactive Project Management by forecasting upcoming issues, such as constraints and other impacts to project success.
  • Leverage stakeholder network to obtain business intelligence, maintain market awareness and position Lindahl Reed for contracts and opportunities.
  • Lead and/or support proposal efforts, teaming, and strategic pricing.
  • Develop, manage, and mentor assigned personnel to enable them to grow in their current roles and beyond.
  • Coordinate the creation of materials and collateral to support business development and brand awareness for Lindahl Reed.


Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and 25 years of professional experience in environmental and government markets.
  • Must possess 15 or more years of operations oversight, business development and capture experience in the environmental sector at the federal level, particularly in support of Department of Energy (DOE)-Office of Environmental Management (EM), Office of Legacy Management (LM), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE).
  • Must have an existing network of business-to-business and government agency contacts such as Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, and Department of Defense.
  • Knowledge of competitors in this market space and experience in competitive assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present technical presentations to internal and external clientele and the ability to lead and write proposals.
  • Must have experience managing environmental programs and projects greater than $10M a year in support of DOE, particularly EM, LM or NNSA.
  • Competency and proficiency with structured business development, capture, and proposal processes.
  • Strong writing, communication, and facilitation skills, team-focused mentality, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Must be able to work under tight deadlines, with multiple/simultaneous bid/proposal efforts, and occasional travel.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with a diverse workforce of professionals and to work collaboratively with all team members.
  • Self-starter, driven and able to work with limited direction under target timelines.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into processes and tactical plans.
  • Integrate resources across practice areas and identifies opportunities to bring innovation and value-added services.
