Vice President Operations

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the oversight and progression of all aspects of the operation for all locations. This includes customer service, financial results, employees, maintenance, equipment, safety and security.
  • Monitors terminal performance closely, including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and reviews. The VPO must communicate expectations clearly to all Regional & Terminal Managers.
  • Coaches and leads Regional & Terminal Managers of each operating location.
  • Covers down for Regional & Terminal Managers as needed.
  • Sets expectations, and maintains accountability for, all operational metrics, safety, security, employee relations and client relations.
  • Ensures safety regulations are being observed and all training is complete, compliant, up to date and effective.
  • Conducts location audits and reviews.
  • Ensures Client expectations and contract requirements are met.
  • Project management and oversight of start-ups for new contracts and facilities.
  • Oversees the development of talent, including hiring, coaching and workforce planning.
  • Works closely with Business Development and client relations.
  • Development of policies & procedures.
  • Coordinates closely with peers and is able to communicate performance metrics with senior executives.
  • Familiar with TSA & CBP security regulations pertaining to import and export freight through airports.
  • Knowledgeable in local, state and federal regulations pertaining to trucking

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 10+ years of senior management experience in the trucking/transportation operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Must have superior writing skills and excellent computer skills including strength in Microsoft products with strong excel skills a major plus.
  • Topflight verbal communication skills, including presenting and speaking in front of groups.
  • Prior Senior Leadership role strongly preferred.
  • Must have excellent financial experience with creating budgets, P&L and more.
  • Must have strong leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Able to work closely with business development to effectively build customer relationships, negotiate and handle contracts.
  • Must understand how to work with multiple constituencies - employees, government and public ridership.

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Walk short and long distances.
  • Reach above and/or below shoulder.
  • Work inside a warehouse in a variety of temperatures
  • Handle/grasp documents, office/warehouse equipment.
  • Sit and/or stand for short or extended periods of time.
  • Lift/carry/move objects, up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in a Warehouse environment using both office and warehouse equipment.
  • Talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
