Vice President, US Controller

Role

This is a search for a Vice President, US Controller for the subsidiary of a publicly traded, P&C carrier that has a focus on acquiring run-off blocks of P&C business. This role is appropriate for someone who's inclined towards supporting a carrier as it continues to develop its platform and scale up. The environment is entrepreneurial and headed by executives from industry who have a track record of creative asset structuring with an eye toward profitability. Reporting to the Group CFO in Bermuda, the expectation is that the VP, US Controller can train, mentor and develop a finance team, and can appropriately orchestrate key areas including:

• Leading the US Statutory and GAAP Financial reporting function including Investment Reporting.
• Working with Group to develop an effective and efficient financial reporting process.
• Leading the research into understanding and implementing accounting pronouncements
• Actively participating in the implementation of a new ERP system.
  
  
  

Description

The role is certainly relevant for a candidate with public/private experience or for a current Senior Manager/Director from Big 4. Knowledge of GAAP, STAT and regulatory principals is key. This is a Hybrid opportunity in Midtown NYC but could be remote for the right person. A fuller description is available, some highlights below:

• Manage, with the Group Controller, the effective and efficient preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and other filings in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Review Underwriting and Investment results and related analysis.
• Work with the NAIC RBC model to ensure appropriate levels of risk-adjusted capitalization.
• Manage and orchestrate the analysis, documentation and conclusions related to investment accounting and reporting under both GAAP, in particular CECL, and Statutory accounting principles.
• Oversee the US tax process working with the company’s tax consultants to ensure timely and accurate tax filings and provisions.
• Help design and implement new processes and procedures that improve the timing, effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of financial reporting
