The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and experienced Video Production Lead to oversee our video production team, including a team of producers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of hip-hop culture and a passion for storytelling through visual media. As a leader within the creative team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of video production from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality content that resonates with our audience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team of producers to develop engaging long-form video content primarily for RapTV’s YouTube channel. You'll oversee everything from storyboarding to shooting and editing, ensuring each step meets brand standards
  • Collaborate with VP of Content to develop long-form strategy, and launch original IP across 8 brands
  • Identify, hire, and manage relationships with external talent, including production crew members, editors, photographers, producers, motion graphics designers, and more
  • Work closely with high-profile talent, ensuring a professional and supportive environment that facilitates outstanding performances
  • Collaborate with the social department to ensure we are leveraging our network to maximize traffic to our long-form content on YouTube
  • Manage equipment and software inventory, ensuring tools are up-to-date and effectively meet production needs
  • Oversee the optimization of video content for YouTube, including SEO strategies, thumbnail creation, metadata, and analytics review to enhance viewer engagement and growth
  • Oversee budget management ensuring video projects stay within defined budget tiers while looking for ways to create a more efficient production environment
  • Work with VP of Content and sales team to produce high-quality branded content video projects, including: conducting research, managing partnerships with a network of production resources, brainstorming, conception of and/or overseeing branded video content shoots and post-production
  • Understand the latest digital, social media, and video production trends, including the cross-section of sports, pop culture, music, fashion, art, and entertainment
  • May assist video producers on set if bandwidth is limited


Expected Outcomes

  • Grow long-form viewership by 200%+
  • Produce and release 5+ long-form videos on RapTV’s YouTube channel monthly


What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional video production experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing a team of producers and other creative personnel
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in producing various video content, particularly in music or entertainment
  • Deep knowledge and appreciation of pop culture and music
  • Passion for hip-hop music is preferred
  • While the role is fully remote, we would prefer if this person were based in Los Angeles or New York City in case of onsite coverage during artist interviews.
