Possible digital disruption alert! TikTok is opening the bid of taking over Instagram through their Notes app. 📸 TL;DR: TikTok launched its new app called Notes, currently in beta testing within Canada and Australia. This app offers a dedicated platform for sharing images and text, setting the stage for a direct competition with Instagram. 💡 Since 2020, TikTok has been a game-changer, reshaping entertainment consumption habits and influencing global digital advertising strategies. 🔄 This move by TikTok reflects a common social media marketing strategy: platform convergence. It mirrors Instagram's integration of Snapchat's Stories and the emergence of Reels as a rival to TikTok's short-form, vertical video content. 💬 So, what's your take? Do we need another photo-sharing app? Are we going to face a shift in power? #TikTok #Instagram #SocialMedia #DigitalMarketing #Innovation

TikTok takes on Instagram… TikTok is gearing up to challenge Instagram with the launch of its very own photo-sharing app. This move comes as part of TikTok's efforts to carve out a dedicated space for images and text within its platform. Users have begun receiving notifications about the new app, tentatively named "TikTok Notes," which will serve as a platform for sharing photos and text posts. While the design and release date is still in the works, it's clear that TikTok is expanding its offerings to compete with other social media giants. This trend of social media platforms borrowing features from one another is nothing new, with Instagram rolling out Reels in 2020 to rival TikTok's video format. #Copycat features can pay off if done well, but #success isn't guaranteed. The move also comes amidst #regulatory challenges, with the US considering legislation that could potentially impact TikTok's future. Launching Notes as a separate app marks a #strategic shift for TikTok, but it could be a smart move given the current landscape. Some experts like social media consultant Matt Navarra question whether there's a significant demand for yet another photo-sharing app. Jasmine Enberg from Insider Intelligence suggests that this move could help TikTok expand its reach in an area where it doesn't currently dominate. Ultimately, as Proulx emphasises, what sets social media platforms apart is not just the features they offer, but also the sense of community, #userexperience, and #algorithms. It will be interesting to see how TikTok Notes evolves and whether it manages to capture users' attention beyond just initial curiosity. #innovation #technology #socialmedia https://lnkd.in/eim_s6rU

Instagram is back 👑👑👑 In 2023, its downloads were up by 20% compared to the previous year, while TikTok's growth was only 4%. Not only that, Instagram also beat TikTok in sheer volume of app downloads with 767 million, compared to TikTok's 733 million. What happened? 👉 A mix of growth in #Reels and Threads, and disenchantment with TikTok's pushy tactics, including its effort to force #TikTok Shops into users' feeds. 👉 Interestingly, TikTok's monthly active users between 18 and 24 decreased by 9% from 2022 to 2023. And with a looming ban in the U.S, Instagram's future looks brighter than ever.
