One thing football taught me is that preparation means nothing without action. You can have the best strategy, but without action nothing happens. Every game, we’d go in with a well-thought-out game plan, but the difference was in the execution. Once the whistle blew, it was time to act—no hesitation, just relentless urgency. In sales, the same principle applies. You can plan and strategize all you want, but it’s the action you take, the urgency to execute that makes the difference. I love this Mickey Mantle quote. It offers perspective. Mantle is considered one of the greatest to ever don the Yankee pinstripes. Yet, 70% of his at bats resulted in an out.
