Sustainability news 🧡 Wolverhampton has been selected as one of seven places to lead the charge as a net-zero neighbourhood, with the government investing £6.2 million to support the region's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2041. Led by the West Midlands Combined Authority, early-stage planning will commence in Wolverhampton, alongside Birmingham, Coventry, Sandwell, Solihull, and Walsall. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the region's commitment to decarbonising homes and businesses, with innovative measures underway to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable living. Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho recently visited Dudley, where an estate is poised to become one of the UK's pioneering carbon offsetting areas through retrofitting. With cutting-edge insulation, solar panels, and low carbon heating systems, these homes represent a glimpse into the future of sustainable living. Mayor Andy Street highlighted the substantial investment already made in Dudley, with £1.6 million supporting efforts to create a more environmentally friendly community. #elkonisearch #sustainabilitynews #westmidlandscombinedauthority #carbonneutral #netzero

One of the most rewarding aspects of working in the green sector is seeing the real, life-changing impact our work has on families who need it most. We recently spoke with a tenant who shared their experience after we completed retrofit work on their home. Before, they were spending £20 on gas every two days—now that same amount lasts them two weeks! It’s incredible to hear how energy efficiency improvements can make such a difference, not just for the environment but also for people's wallets and quality of life. Hearing stories like this reminds me why I'm so passionate about sustainability and energy efficiency. It’s not just about saving money—it's about making a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of individuals and their families. #GreenSector #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #Retrofit #MakingADifference

🌿 Embracing Change: The Energy Transition in Latrobe Valley 🌿 The Latrobe Valley in Gippsland is undergoing a remarkable transformation as it shifts from traditional energy sources to more sustainable alternatives. This transition not only reflects the vision of the Council for a greener and more resilient future but also addresses the concerns of the community while bringing the regional area together in unity. Transcend Managed Services are proud to be working with Latrobe City Council and Latrobe Valley Authority and are showcasing their case study at Morwell Innovation Centre tomorrow. Partnerships are cornerstone to growth. For decades, the Latrobe Valley has been synonymous with coal-fired power generation, playing a significant role in Australia's energy landscape. However, as the world moves towards cleaner and renewable energy sources, the Valley has embraced this change with determination and innovation. The transition to renewable energy not only aligns with the Council's vision for a sustainable future but also demonstrates a commitment to reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change. This shift has not been without its challenges, and the concerns of the community have been at the forefront of the transition process. The impact on local jobs, economies, and livelihoods has been a key consideration, prompting stakeholders to collaborate and find solutions that benefit both the environment and the community. Through open dialogue, engagement, and collaboration, the community has been actively involved in shaping the transition, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met. What is truly inspiring is how this energy transition has brought the regional area together in unity. Despite differing perspectives and interests, stakeholders have come together to work towards a common goal of a sustainable and prosperous future for the Latrobe Valley. This shared vision has fostered a sense of community pride, resilience, and innovation, driving positive change and creating new opportunities for growth and development. As we witness the transformation taking place in the Latrobe Valley, let us celebrate the power of adaptation, collaboration, and unity in driving positive change. By embracing innovation, sustainability, and community engagement, we can create a brighter future for generations to come and inspire others to follow in our footsteps towards a more sustainable and inclusive world. #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #CommunityEngagement #Innovation #Unity #LatrobeValley

Carbon Negative from Day 1 🌱 At Green Gap Consulting, one of our core values is embodying sustainability and walking the talk as a company. It’s not enough to just talk about sustainability, we believe in taking tangible actions to live it. That’s why we decided to estimate our carbon footprint upfront for the coming year and offset our anticipated emissions through Credible Carbon, thus becoming Carbon Negative. We chose to support a cause very close to our hearts, one that Linus Naik himself was involved in the project design phase: the Kuyasa low-cost housing project. This initiative focuses on two core energy efficiency pillars to transform the community in Khayelitsha, Cape Town including: 1. The installation of solar water heaters 2. Insulating ceiling and retrofitting housing with energy-efficient lighting The project has also empowered communities through early childhood development projects and food gardens. We’re proud to share that we’re #CarbonNegative this #WorldEnvironmentDay and support an initiative that helps strengthen resilience to climate change.

Our social media manager recently returned from the incredible Burning Man experience, where she witnessed an impressive amount of solar expertise! From her camp to some of the most iconic art installations, the desert was a shining example of what’s possible with sustainable energy. This year, Black Rock City had 1,188 placed camps. According to Bryant Tan, Associate Director of City Planning in Black Rock City, 52% of placed camps in 2024 were working towards Burning Man’s 2030 Environmental Sustainability Roadmap, and 61% were using alternative power, primarily solar. “If things go according to plan for this event, we will have reduced the carbon impact of producing power for the infrastructure of BRC by more than 65% in just three years’ time,” says Chris Neary, the Associate Director of the DPW known as ChAos. Burners have always led the way in innovating cultural, technological, and logistical solutions—and now, these innovations are making their way into the wider world to tackle global challenges far beyond Black Rock City! #SolarPower #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #CarbonNegative #EnvironmentalSustainability #BurningMan2024 #SolarInnovation #SustainableLiving #EnergyTransition #SolarGrid #GreenTechnology #EcoFriendly #FutureOfEnergy #NetZero2030 #SustainableSolutions #SolarCommunity #EnergyEfficiency
