We recently celebrated a significant milestone with DeSoto Regional Health System in Mansfield, Louisiana, as we broke ground on a monumental project. This development includes a 57,000-square-foot hospital and a 40,000-square-foot medical office building, which will house a Rural Health Clinic, Hospital Administration, Cancer Services, Specialty Clinic Space, and Sleep Study Services. Once completed, these new facilities will modernize healthcare delivery and expand the capacity to serve the residents of DeSoto Parish, marking a transformative step forward for the community. #1LEMOINE

We are pleased to see new research from the University of Otago, in collaboration with GPNZ, showing how unmet need is jeopardising patient health care and straining general practices. The research talks about inaccessibility and overburdened practitioners, equity issues and disparities. You can read the release here with a link to the research https://lnkd.in/gAUXQy2D Our CEO, Andrew Swanson Dobbs, talks about how primary care continues to be the backbone of healthcare in Aotearoa, with many general practices, community providers, and Māori providers dedicated to supporting whānau with complex hauora needs. "The budget announcements last week pose considerable challenges for the forecasted year ahead. Any capitation uplift this year is likely to be disappointing, necessitating unprecedented levels of creativity and innovation. "As we navigate the complexities and demands of our communities, it is essential for primary care to re-evaluate and evolve its model of care to meet unmet needs effectively. This doesn’t mean challenging the need for face-to-face consultations and engagements, but it does require us to look at all services offered and consider where practical changes could be made to enhance whānau access and subsequently outcomes. "Thank you to our general practices for your continued commitment and to providing the best care for our community. Together, we can navigate these challenges and continue to improve healthcare outcomes for all." General Practice New Zealand University of Otago

The Ontario Health West (OH West) Central Intake Project aims to provide equity for CT and MRI accessibility across the OH West region. The project is a significant investment for the healthcare system and is expected to enhance patient access to CT/MRI services, simplify the process for routine booking, optimize system capacity and enable future modernizations and innovative changes. Throughout the month of March, SBGHC participated within a key role of the Proof-of-Concept team, which was designed to test patients’ willingness to travel further distances for shorter wait times for medical imaging. Partnering sites that took part in the proof of concept included: London Health Sciences Centre, St. Joseph’s Healthcare London, St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and South Bruce Grey Health Centre. At SBGHC, we know that rural health care is unique, and by taking on a lead role in the Proof-of-Concept project we are working to collaborate with OH West and larger urban centers in a mutually beneficial way, for all patients, to access MRI and CT services. #WeAreSBGHC #Community #AccessToCare #centralintake #OntarioHealthWest #MedicalImaging #DiagnosticImaging #Partners #UsingResourcesWisely #HealthyCommunities #PatientsAsPartners

Addressing widespread health inequity is one of the biggest challenges facing the healthcare industry in the United States and across the globe. Many rural areas and underserved populations have little access to clinical expertise. Making the best use of high quality modern CHP core estate buildings enables better patient care, reduces waiting lists, with patients seen closer to home in more convenient locations. Sensor data facilitated a notable increase in room booking usage leading to higher healthcare utilisation. CHP installed sensors in bookable clinic rooms in three health centre buildings in Doncaster. This was to help understand if the sessional space used reflected the room bookings made. Despite the high demand for clinical space in these buildings, many rooms were booked and not used. The sensor data enabled further investigation to understand the impact and reasons. The local CHP Property and Operations team worked with the clinical and estates teams at Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber Foundation Trust (RDASH) and the estates team from South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board with responsibility for the Doncaster region, to identify and solve issues, improve engagement, and provide regular reporting. High bookable room usage has been maintained for more than four years. This means more patients are seen in RDASH clinics at Whitewings, Martinwells, and Stonecastle Health Centres, leading to shorter waiting lists. Get in touch with your CHP Regional Director and your regional Property and Operations team to find out how they can support building utilisation and provide high-quality, modern, core NHS facilities for patients in their local communities. What could the future of healthcare look like? For most of us stuck in a healthcare system riddled with complexity and inefficiency, it’s hard to imagine a future in which healthcare is all about #healthy living, #innovative care and #equitable access for all. And, which includes both healthy bodies and minds. Building such a system was last week’s theme for #UNGA79 Science Summit 2024 at Cure. Beginning with the #Davos of healthcare C3 Summit held in conjunction with United Nations General Assembly, followed by the Brain Health Summit featuring a keynote from New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, in a conference by the European Brain Council, Brain Capital Alliance, UsAgainstAlzheimer's Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and UNICEF, it was an intense week focused on shaping a future of healthcare that puts #empowered #people squarely at the center of it all. From vaccines to #prevent diseases to #homebaseddiagnostics and #telehealth to #AI assisted #personalizedmedicine, the future places care and power back into the patient’s hands. As Suja Mathew from Atlantic Health System, one of the largest nonprofit health care networks in New Jersey that connects with 600-plus #communitybased health care providers, put it, “our goal is to keep patients out of the hospital and deliver care at the right time and the right place.” This means that the future of healthcare will have fewer, and smaller hospitals and many more technology-enabled outpatient, community and home-based care. And a great side effect of all this good medicine could be lower costs and better access for all. The Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub, the Dartmouth General Hospital, The Orchid Gala and the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation are reimagining pelvic health care through the creation of a Pelvic Health Suite, which aims to revolutionize pelvic health care for Nova Scotians. Together, we are creating a novel model of care in a purpose-built space for outpatient gynecological and urological procedures, allowing them to be moved out of the operating room and endoscopy suites. The goal of the Pelvic Health Suite is to reduce wait times, provide more rapid access to diagnostics or therapies and improve patient experience and outcomes. To make this happen we’re launching our first innovation challenge! What is an innovation challenge? It’s an opportunity to discover existing innovative solutions from industry that we may not be aware of. Innovation challenges can lead to the discovery of new and cost-effective solutions, provide access to a diverse range of ideas, and ultimately ensure that patients have access to cutting-edge care. https://bit.ly/4e2SZIQ
