Hello, I am Jawad Ur Rehman, and I have worked in the Amazon wholesale model for over 4 years. About a year ago, I had an interesting experience to share. I was working with a client, and in the first two months, I got brand approvals and even set up live inventory for one of the brands. My sales were going well, and the client seemed happy with my work. However, towards the end of the month, when I tried to access the account, I found that my passwords had been changed and my access had been removed. When I messaged the client about this, he said he wanted to talk to me and asked for my availability. This seemed a bit suspicious to me. In the call, the client explained that there was no issue with my work, and he was happy with it. However, he said that they can't continue working with me. The reason he gave was that his partner had found an agency that charged a good amount for the first month ($1k - $2k) and then worked on a percentage basis, even sharing the losses. I didn't say much in response, as I couldn't force the client to work with me, and I couldn't change the mentality of a Pakistani client. But the offer seems suspicious to me. After about a month, the client came back to me, saying that they had paid a good amount to the agency for the first month, but now, in the second month, the agency was closing down due to some issues. The client was in deep shock, as they already paid him the very first month a huge amount and the agency had been selling counterfeit and IP-complaint products, and the client's account was at risk of deactivation. Few lesson for investor/Client: 1. Have patience and give your service provider at least 3-6 months to see results, especially if your account is doing well with brands and inventory. 2. E-commerce is a proper business and takes time, so set realistic goals and approach. 3. Don't go with people who claim they can set up your business within 2 months, charging a one-time fee and then shifting to a percentage-based model. 4. Switching service providers is not always the solution. 5. If you don't have the patience and appetite for business, this may not be the right path for you. What I learned after this incident: 1. Never question your credibility. Always guide the client on the real-time frame and the nature of the business model. 2. Don't work with everyone; prioritize your peace of mind and only work with clients who understand the business tactics. 3. Always sign a contract so that there are no surprises at the end of the month.
