Ask any sales or marketing professional… Launching new products and building new territories is not easy. Over a year ago my husband, Dean Peaple , joined this company to launch a new division of window coverings. Through operations and production challenges, changes in leadership and the minimal marketing support common with ‘startups’ - my husband never gave up! I have watched him be tenacious and creative, using common sense, guerilla tactics, and teamwork- always finding a way. I know the road is long, - and I admire my husbands patience and perseverance. Hiring Frank Elkins as CEO of Selco Builders Warehouse and GB Distribution for Grafton Group plc is a stunning acquisition! He is a true industry legend and a man of the upmost integrity. He will lead this business to even greater success, building on the excellent work of Howard Luft. If I were an executive at Stark and especially Travis Perkins I would now be very concerned. How many people will follow Frank out of the ones they have left who haven't joined John? How many customers will make the switch? How did Travis Perkins manage to lose so many good leaders? People like Frank, John Carter, and Kieran Griffin. Frank or Kieran could have been their next CEO. As I said in a post the other day, succession planning is vital to the success of a business. Of course, people leave companies for many different reasons. Some are pushed, others make the choice, wanting a new challenge in a new environment. For others it's a case of losing faith in the leadership above. Losing one of these great men is forgiveable, losing all three could be considered negligent. Frank was last years winner of the BMJ Industry Personality of the Year Award, sponsored by Wilson Brook Consulting. Will he now, in the years ahead, become the first person to win it twice? I have done loads of recruitment for Selco both in the 2000's, when they weren't so well known, and more recently. Frank - we're ready to help again whenever required, well at least once I'm back from my holiday in Mauritius! It would be a pleasure to work with you! How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, density bonus increase, waivers of impact fees, or other government benefit or incentive did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project and, if the affordability period is not in perpetuity or permanent, WHY NOT? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants in the affordable housing units will not be displaced after an "affordability period expires? Any LOCAL, STATE or FEDERAL official that does not MANDATE "permanent" affordability periods or affordability "IN PERPETUITY" for any project receiving some government benefit is commiting MALFEASANCE and should quit, be removed from office or be terminated. IN MOST CASES WHEN IT COMES TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING, the public and taxpayer are being fooled into thinking their elected and appointed officials are solving problems, when in fact, all hey have done is "KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD" to burden a future generation with the same problem or crisis!
