20 years contributing to thriving communities. Twenty years ago today, we opened 3fold with more dreams than clients, an abundance of passion, and an idea to prove that a marketing agency could contribute to thriving communities. In the past two decades, we've worked with some of the state’s most impactful education, healthcare, government, and nonprofit organizations. We’ve employed some of the smartest and most dedicated creatives and strategists in the industry. We've applied our team's immense talents to solving countless community and business challenges. We hear a lot about restricted grants in philanthropy, but not enough about the power of supports "beyond the grant." For years, Anne Marie Burgoyne and the team at Emerson Collective have been pioneers in providing out-of-the-box -- and totally transformative -- supports to their grantees. As Anne Marie writes: "Foundations often focus their time and attention on making large operating grants to nonprofits — and rightly so given their importance to grantees. Yet sometimes, untraditional support that falls outside of typical funding — so-called 'beyond the grant' opportunities — can have an even greater impact." One example: in recent years, Emerson funded 400 teams to visit the Equal Justice Initiative's Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama. The theory was that by supporting organizations in having shared, immersive experience learning about America's history of racial injustice, they'd spark personal growth and team transformation. Not surprisingly, it worked. While the impact of these grants can't be easily measured in dollars & cents or lives saved....the ripple effect of these investments will be felt for decades to come. For more on how they did it and what they learned, check out Anne Marie's latest in The Chronicle of Philanthropy #philanthropy #nonprofit #racialequity #beyondthegrant
Emerson Collective has been so grateful over the years to partner with Equal Justice Initiative to support bringing our grantee partners to EJI’s Legacy sites in Montgomery, Alabama. I am excited to share this op-ed that reflects on our learnings from offering this "beyond the grant program". And a big thanks to the The Chronicle of Philanthropy for their support in publishing this piece. https://lnkd.in/gm83CyvY

We believe it’s time to dramatically reimagine the power dynamic between donors and those they fund. How many of you running nonprofits have spent years of your life honing your ability to present your organization’s work in the best possible light to funders? Of course this is essential, but our founder Chandler Arnold is also becoming increasingly candid about the unintended consequences of giving in to this temptation of presenting perfection. What if this power dynamic were different? What if funders took proactive steps to *make* it different? Imagine a world in which — in addition to celebrating all of a nonprofit’s impressive wins, nonprofit leaders could also speak candidly with funders about their challenges, and — dare we say it? — their failures. It IS possible to change this entrenched power dynamic, but it takes work. And this work almost always need to start with the funder. But, when it works, magic happens. When traditional power dynamics are replaced with trust on both sides, nonprofit leaders are suddenly able to be much more candid about obstacles, complications, and failures… offering funders the opportunity to provide additional resources where they are needed most. Our company was founded by Chandler Arnold based on “7 radical beliefs about philanthropy, that really shouldn’t be radical at all. Today we are presenting Radical Belief #4. 1,795 hours per year. What you can expect to work in 2024 if you have a 35 hour/week job. That number looks overwhelming even if you have a GREAT job you love. We commit SO DAMN MUCH of our time, energy, brainspace to the work we do that I feel you should at least like the work. And be supported in it. And hopefully still feel inspired by it. I am already a couple of hours in to this number because I woke up with fire in my belly to get creating - how are YOU starting off this new year #changemakers ?? #socialimpact #philanthropy #philanthropymatters #nonprofit ___________________________________________________________ Hey there, I'm Tasha and I chat on LinkedIn about marketing, nonprofits, community, relationships and parenting (in no particular order). Creator The Opportunity Initiative | EP Opportunity Knocks on PBS | Owner Emmy Winning Biz Kids on PBS | $1 Billion in CDFI Awards
Global and national social impact awards because Opportunity Knocks is not just a TV series on PBS. It is The Opportunity Initiative’s behaviorally designed outreach and engagement strategy that leads “underestimated” viewers to leverage nonprofits, CDFIs, and not-for-profit credit unions to make more money, keep more of their own money, and solve big family challenges (healthcare, utilities, immigration) essential to getting ahead! And we are measuring the results!
Exciting News! 🎉Our behaviorally designed outreach/engagement series Opportunity Knocks on PBS was honored with not one but four prestigious global and national social impact awards: · Platinum Viddy Award for Education · Gold Viddy Award for Nonprofit · Gold Viddy Award for Social Responsibility · Silver Global Anthem Award for Mission-Driven Work in Television The Opportunity Initiative takes that programming and moves viewers to connect with a network of 20,000 nonprofits, and measures economic advancement results (reduced debt, increased savings, increased wages, reduced stress.) Our national partnership list is expansive and growing. Thanks to catalytic funding from the Wells Fargo Foundation, featured organizations: The Urban League Of Louisiana, United Way, not-for-profit #creditunions, and more. We are at The Aspen Institute Ideas Festival this week with the our friends at Biz Kid$ (Emmy Award-Winning)$ and the Singleton Foundation for Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship's Slyngshot. Let's connect if your organization is here. #OpportunityKnocks #FinancialWellness #Awards #SocialImpact #EconomicAdvancement #grants #nonprofits

Have you heard about our Thrive Together program? We believe marketing services should be more accessible to those who face disadvantages in business due to lack of access to funding, marginalization, or physical or mental health challenges. That's why we started our Thrive Together program! 1-2% of our gross income goes into a special fund that allows us to give marketing credits to organizations that are: 1) 501c3 Nonprofit Serving a Local Community 2) Woman or Minority Owned Business (at least 50%) 3) Military Veteran or First Responder-owned business (at least 50%) This program is entirely self-funded because these are my people. I'm a military mom x2, and a law enforcement officer wife. I'm a woman business owner. I have worked in nonprofits and raised support. If you'd like to apply for a Thrive Together credit, hit me up on my DMs or fill out the application on our website! https://lnkd.in/ggWnntvx

CEO of the highest-rated social impact platform on G2 - Groundswell | Executive Chairman at Team Rubicon
The other day I posted about how CSR leaders should be thinking proactively about they can support communities impacted by disaster. It reminded me of Team Rubicon's epic collaboration with T-Mobile during the 2017 World Series (which took place after Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria devastated the US). What's incredible about the campaign wasn't just the $3 million that was raised to fuel our work across Houston, Florida, and Puerto Rico, but that 2 of the 4 best performing ads for ALL wireless carriers for the ENTIRE year were from the campaign. Consumers today want companies to invest in impact. It's not just good for the community, it's good for the bottom line. So the question you should be asking yourself as an impact leader is: what platform does my company have that could be leveraged to amplify the work of a nonprofit partner? You may not be the presenting sponsor of the World Series, but I bet there's something you can leverage to level up your impact. Thoughts? Ideas? #CSR #socialimpact #CSRleaders #corporategiving #corporateimpact #corporatesocialresponsibility #corporateengagement #philanthropy
