Last week I was invited by VolkerHighways to present to colleagues across the South West of England about how VivaCity uses AI to help Local Authorities make local roads safer. It was a good opportunity to talk to colleagues who are working in road safety. Having worked in the space for about 10 years here are a few things that I took away from the event: - Being a highways officer has become much harder - constant change and budget cuts have left teams with no capacity. Despite this, there has been no let up on asking councils to do more, particularly when it comes to roads and streets. We need to get smarter about what we do and don't do. - Everyone I spoke to wants to meet Vision Zero and Net Zero. We just need an evidence-led approach to take us there. - Highways and Transport teams are innovating more than we are letting on and we should tell people - I saw plenty of innovation on display on Thursday, from how we deploy cones on the motorway to new ways we maintain assets. - Our tech is pretty innovative. I know I am biased, but our sensors offer a real step change in how local authorities understand what is happening on their road network and how they can make them safer. Authorities need accurate and reliable evidence and data to base decisions on and features like our near miss analysis can change the way we do that. Nationella potthålsveckan (National Pothole Week) is here! 🚗🌟 This important initiative, organized by Riksförbundet M Sverige, sheds light on the critical state of Swedish roads. Our AI-powered system, 3DAI™ City, automates the process of monitoring road conditions, and today, the system is transforming road maintenance in an increasing number of cities. 💰 By streamlining inspections and reducing logistical needs, 3DAI™ City helped one city save approximately €80,000 per year. 🕛 In another city, road status checks, which used to take 2.5 days every week, are now completed in less than an hour 💼 Customers report that the system enables the reallocation of more than 50% of the workforce, allowing them to focus on strategic tasks and enhancing productivity. 🕳 The system helps to reduce the number of potholes! In one city, they reduced from 3,000 to 900 in only 6 month, improving road safety and user comfort. Improving public transportation together: A collaboration with the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium. Last week, Optibus presented a collaborative study focused on improving public transportation with the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM). The study aims to evaluate changes to lines for emerging neighborhoods, analyzing their impact on operating costs, in particular the need for additional buses, and the population served by these line extensions. This collaboration aims to optimize public transportation and provide more efficient service to our communities. [Let’s talk Innovation 💡] The City of Light shines bright with #Flowell!❄️   Check out the below photo snapped this morning in Paris at a pedestrian crossing equipped with Flowell, our illuminated and interactive marking system. Unlike traditional markings, these Flowell panels remain visible even under a blanket of snow and indicate there is a pedestrian crossing.   Did you know? Flowell is the only dynamic horizontal signaling device authorized by French regulators.
