A very interesting take on the current environment for private credit and the opportunities that lie ahead for 2024.

What are the main challenges that finance and operational leaders face in today's world? BaltCap's Finance and Technology Director, Juri Pervjakov, participated in the SuperReturn CFO/COO conference to find out and share insights. Juri discussed the crucial topic of "Valuations, value creation, and volatility " in a panel with industry peers ronald bell, (Fremman Capital), Ayesha Kiani (Ledger Investing) and Beth Topolovsky (@Spark Group) moderated by Christian Fuessinger (Helvetica Capital AG). Main takeaways from the panel: 💎 #PE and #VC valuations remain a mix of art and science, as it is difficult to obtain relevant, objective, and current market benchmarks. 💎Good communication between the finance and investment teams is essential for arriving at fair value. 💎Due to volatility, auditors are starting to challenge valuations more closely. In the VC space, the recent investment round may no longer be an automatic indication of fair value. 💎In PE, volatility makes using public peer multiples more difficult, making it ever more important to corroborate fair values using alternative methodologies.

Just to let you know, the contraction in your stock price is directly related to the contraction in your shareholder base. Understand why your stock is falling. The stock market is not rising and falling in small increments as usual but expanding or contracting rapidly. Later stage valuations are on the up...this should ease up pressure on early stage too. The risk of too low valuations is that the implied dilution can prevent founders to fund the full scalability of their business. That is the key point that both sides, investors and founders, should focus on when they negotiate valuations. That of course suggests that founders have a good clue about their scalability potential and route to market, which unfortunately is not always the case.
