👀 A pioneering study by CU Boulder engineers, backed by a $2.2 million CDC grant, is exploring the potential of air purifiers to reduce student absenteeism by improving air quality in classrooms. With air quality monitors installed in 2,400 Colorado classrooms, the project aims to provide real-time data on environmental conditions affecting student health. Preliminary results suggest that the integration of HEPA filter air purifiers could significantly lower the presence of airborne pollutants and pathogens, including those from vehicle exhaust, wildfire smoke, and the coronavirus. This initiative not only promises to enhance the learning environment but also serves as a national model for affordable air quality interventions in schools.
