ReImagine Appalachia
Non-profit Organization Management
Coming together to reimagine a 21st century economy for the Ohio Valley
About us
We are a broad and inclusive coalition of individuals and organizations based in Appalachia. Reimagine Appalachia was born out of a broad recognition that the economy has not been working for most people and places in the Ohio River Valley. In response, a diverse set of economic, environmental and community leaders, and grassroots organizations, came together to find common ground and build the future we want to see—a 21st century economy that’s good for workers, communities, and the environment.

Communities across Appalachia are eager to move toward a cleaner, more sustainable future while still honoring our past. Federal Clean Energy funding is a bridge for us to get there. We recently sat down with Danielle Crumrine, Executive Director of Tree Pittsburgh , and she shared her love of trees, of Pittsburgh, and of the coal communities like the ones she grew up in. She also spoke about how vital Federal Clean Energy Plan funding is for Tree Pittsburgh at this moment in time — as Allegheny County shifts from its industrial, coal-powered past to a cleaner future. Watch Danielle’s story to hear how growing up as the granddaughter of coal miners and farmers fed her love for the environment and for her work to enrich Pittsburgh’s tree canopy.
