One of the largest IT-companies is laying off all Project Managers but allows them to try to get an interview for a Product Manager. I recently came across an interesting article. Social network with square pictures decided to eliminate the entire role of Project Managers. Actually, within the company they were called Technical Program Managers, but this is essentially the same position. What I think: there used to be quite a lot of Project Managers; indeed, they appeared in the IT industry even before Product Managers came to the scene. But now such positions are becoming less common. The job responsibilities of a Project Manager now tend to be spread out across related roles; thus, no one wants to hire another person for this particular role. My recent experience confirms this: I helped several acquaintances look for work and those who still position themselves as Project Managers, faced with the fact that there are very few vacancies. There is a much higher chance of getting a job as a Product Manager or a Team Lead — if your skills and experience allow it, surely. A new special role that's opened up at Canvs ✨ Project Management in Design : Apply here: https://lnkd.in/dAUGP3DV https://lnkd.in/ddGVnw5Z There's nothing new about project management roles, yet it's new for us, and we want to do it right. Design projects have always been managed by design managers at Canvs. As we've grown in operations, it's time we hired dedicated project managers so our Design Managers can focus on Design Strategy. We take project management seriously. Over the years a lot of good old project management has been gift-wrapped as Product Management as if it was having a branding crisis. We've never felt that way for this role. Good project managers save a project from its people, as much as they have their best intentions for it. If you are good at project management and love working with designers, come join us. 🤍 Premankan Aalhad Harleen Abin Poulami Akansha Gayatri #design #projectmanagement #agency

Do you have wish moving to next role in your upcoming promotion cycle? * Senior engineer ➡ Staff engineer * Project lead ➡ Project manager * Associate Architect ➡ Technical Architect * Product owner ➡ Product manager * Engineering manager ➡ Director of engineering * Sales manager ➡ Sales head * Marketing representative ➡ Marketing manager * Customer support ➡ Account manager There is a best way to pickup your next role and take steps to help your promotion. ✔ Look at someone who is performing the role in your team or group. Understand his/her traits, skills, core objectives and working style. Pickup everything as foundation and start virtually playing role before it becomes an official position. ✔ Also look for someone who isn't performing role(s) as well as they should, doesn't reflect right behaviors for the role and doesn't fully own stuff. This is nothing against them but you can learn and avoid all kind of avoidable mistakes. ✔ Communicate with your manager to ensure you don't just get new title but the role as part of promotion. ✔ Show tons of - Passion - Proactiveness - Collaboration mode - Owning stuff - Curiosity Best wishes 🙂👍 #jobpromotion #careergrowth #careeradvice #learnandgrow #careerprogress #ownyourcareer #careerplan #jobgrowth

Very few brands have $60,000 just laying around. Not even the biggest brands in the world will be careless with that amount of money. (Well, most of them…) According to GlassDoor, it can cost anywhere between $90,000 - $125,000 to hire one new production professional in the apparel industry right now. Then, when you start factoring in... - Onboarding (avg 2 weeks) - Ramp up time (typically 60 days) - Understanding of your business details (~4 months, if they're great) You're now looking at over half of a year, just to get your new team member up to speed! Take the average senior production manager salary at $110,000, cut it in half to account for that 6-7 months of onboarding time, add typical benefits and that's at least $60,000 to hire a new production manager and hopefully get them up to speed in 6 months. Orrrrr.... You can start tomorrow with Unmarked Street. We have worked in almost every role possible (creative design, pattern engineering, technical design, product management, project management and production management, to name a few). We have extensive factory communication and collaboration experience. And we do it all for a fixed monthly rate that will make your finance team scream with delight! We require almost no ramp-up time, no benefits and have our own processes to get ourselves up to speed with your brand in weeks, compared to months. The cherry on top? When you hire Unmarked Street, you get access to a TEAM of production professionals who already know how to work together to maximize our time and your money. So, the question is: would you rather spend $60,000 on a single person or a fraction of that on a tested and vetted team to come in and help improve production processes for your brand? #apparel #fashion #freelancing #apparelproduction
