Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)’s Post

Last week, Johns Hopkins Medicine hosted a Project Medical Education (PME day) where policymakers, local officials, community members & others outside of the #AcademicMedicine space were able to experience medical school firsthand through immersive sessions and simulations. Attendees simulated the delivery of a baby, drilled a burr hole in a model skull, operated on a pig heart, explored a medical evacuation helicopter and more. Thanks, John Hopkins School of Medicine, for such an exciting day showing attendees what medical school is like and the critical need to invest in #MedEd.

  • Five people dressed in business casual clothing are standing outside of a medical evacuation helicopter on a helicopter pad.
  • A doctor in scrubs is talking to a group of people and gesturing with his hands. There is a patient on a hospital bed in front of them.
  • A group of six people are standing in front of a blue Johns Hopkins Medical School banner. They are each holding a sign matching them to a different medical residency.
  • Photo of the interior of a medical helicopter. There is a gurney with a backpack full of medical supplies.
  • Three people are sitting behind a table with a blue Johns Hopkins tablecloth.
