We are utilizing sediment control techniques to construct Islands in the delta of Red River, aiding Mother Nature in forming islands in Netley Lake and reviving natural marshland at the river's mouth. My expertise was crucial in designing the fence for this project, with my team leading the installation. Stay tuned as we observe how it performs in the upcoming months. 🌿 Some fascinating facts about the area: - The Red River flows from Minnesota to Lake Winnipeg, eventually reaching Hudson Bay. - Lake Winnipeg ranks as the 11th largest lake globally in terms of surface area. - Over the past 90 years, human activities have deteriorated the marshland. - Witnessing nature's creation of a new delta, we are expediting the process using our innovative sediment control techniques. - All products used are 100% natural and biodegradable. Hot off the press is our newest instructional video that introduces the audience to a useful stream restoration material called grouted boulders. Some contexts for urban waterway restoration and stabilization require a belt and suspenders approach - this is where grouted boulders come in. LeDuc Montgomery LLC is pleased to represent the Legacy Forest Defense Coalition and North Cascades Conservation Council in litigation to halt the Washington State Department of Natural Resources "Stilly Revisited" timber sale of mature, structurally complex legacy forests - located just 2 miles downstream of the catastrophic 2014 Oso Landslide. LFDC's press release notes "On March 22, 2014, the Oso landslide sent a torrent of mud and debris into the Stillaguamish River valley, killing 43 people and destroying 49 homes. DNR paid $50 million to settle resulting lawsuits, which alleged that actions on state land and nearby logging caused an increase in runoff above the slide that led to the tragedy. The Stilly Revisited Timber Sale is located only two miles from the Oso landslide, on the same side of the river, and on both higher and steeper ground. A major landslide here could send an even larger torrent of mud and debris into the river valley, potentially damming the river, flooding and/or burying a portion of the valley, and threatening lives and properties located adjacent to and across the river. Yet DNR does not even mention the Oso landslide in its geologist's report, SEPA checklist, or Forest Practices Application for the Stilly Revisited Timber Sale, or give any consideration of the similarities between the two sites, or the role that timber harvest played in causing the landslide near Oso." Despite the risks, DNR has proceeded with plans that could further destabilize steep slopes on the north side of the river valley, and pose a new threat to the lives and properties of local residents. #forestdefense #legacyforest https://lnkd.in/gSTq2yjD
