🚀 Day 16 of my 30-day UX design challenge: Job Search Strategies 🚀 As I continue my journey into UX design, I've come to realize that landing the perfect role isn't just about sending out resumes—it's about strategy. Today, on Day 16 of my challenge, I want to share some insights I've gathered on job search strategies in the field of UX design. Researching companies is key. Understanding their culture, values, and the products they create can help tailor your application to fit their needs. It's not just about finding any job; it's about finding the right fit for both you and the company. Tailoring your application materials is crucial. Highlighting relevant experience, skills, and projects can make all the difference in catching the attention of hiring managers. Taking the time to customize your resume and portfolio shows that you're genuinely interested in the role. Preparing for interviews is equally important. Practice answering common UX design questions, showcase your problem-solving skills, and be ready to discuss your portfolio in detail. Confidence and preparation can go a long way in making a lasting impression. Throughout my 30-day challenge, I've been diving deep into the world of UX design, and each day brings new insights and learnings. I'm excited to share my journey with you all and to continue growing and evolving in this dynamic field. Let's connect and learn from each other as we navigate the exciting world of UX design together! Feel free to share your own job search tips and experiences in the comments below. #Day16 #JobSearch #UXDesign #CareerAdvice 🌟

YOU’RE TOO BROKE TO NOT BE SEEN! Yes, YOU🫵🏽 I couldn’t attend the most talked about event on my feed, The Smart Career Woman hosted by Adeife Adeoye, but I came across a post by Delight Abioye about this write-up from the event, and it gave me a lot to think about. Honestly, it feels like the message is screaming directly at me—and maybe at you too. Look…You're losing opportunities That course you bought months ago but never finished That content you filmed but never posted That skill you planned to learn but never started We’ve all been there—overwhelmed, hesitant, or simply stuck in our comfort zones. But here’s the thing, comfort zones rarely lead to growth, and growth is what unlocks those opportunities we’re all dreaming about. Take it one step at a time. Dust off that course, edit that content, and start learning that skill. Small consistent actions add up over time. Every day is a chance to move closer to the career, lifestyle, or freedom you’re working toward. The key is to start—and keep showing up. Sometimes, the only motivation you need is raw, unfiltered truth. Now, let’s get up and get that bag! ★ First time seeing my post? I’m Angel Onyemaobi, an aspiring UI/UX designer, documenting my 90-day journey into the world of design. I’m here to learn, grow, and connect with like-minded people as I build my career. Let’s connect and inspire each other! #smartcareerwomen #womenintech #Remotewokher #consistency

I've reviewed thousands of UX portfolios since 2017, and here's one of the biggest mistakes I see: Your portfolio feels like it's selling the product you worked on. But in reality, your portfolio should be selling the product of YOU. Too many portfolios focus on the end features and shiny design, but they miss the mark by not highlighting the process and decisions that got them there. Here are a few things recruiters and hiring managers really want to see in your UX portfolio ... and hear in interviews 😉 - How you arrived at a decision or solution - How you iterated based on user feedback - What trade-offs you had to make and why - How you navigated challenges or constraints - How you collaborated with cross-functional teams - What you learned and how it informs your future work - Why you chose a specific type of research, method, etc - And honestly, so much more ... but I'll leave it here for now Your portfolio isn’t just a showcase of what you made; it’s a showcase of how you think. Helping UX and Product people create stronger portfolios that equip them to talk about their work in interviews effectively is just one of the "5 Sprints" we do inside Career Strategy Lab's 3-month UX and Product Job Search Accelerator. You can learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gjeyFT8P Feel free to DM me here on LinkedIn if you have questions or use the chat widget on our website. Hope this re-frame about UX portfolios helps you see how you might improve your own portfolio so it meets the needs of your users (aka recruiters and hiring managers) 💜 #ux #uxdesign #productdesign

This post is going to bring some controversy but I’m going to say it ✨- People back in 2021-2022 had it easy with job search particularly in the UX Industry ✨- There was no hype around UX and many put little efforts and bagged high paying positions ✨- Then came the hype around UX where many people started taking boot camps that guaranteed them 6-8 lpa job and now the market is filled with these guys 😖 ✨- I personally received a lot of callbacks and interviews for positions that I wasn’t qualified back and I had a very basic portfolio ! ✨- Now I apply for jobs which I’m actually qualified for but still I get automated rejection emails ✨- In this job market, recruiters really care for skills and a personal brand, from my experience! ✨- To all the aspiring designers who actually care about their career and want to bag the role ! ✨- Hang in there! Keep designing in public and taking feedback from peers and one day you are going to bag that dream role❤️ #linkedin #marketing #personalbrand #personalbranding #uxdesigner #jobseeker #jobseeker2024 #jobsearch

5 truths about creating a mid or senior UX portfolio that will lead to more interviews, offers, and quite possibly a salary increase: 1) You CAN create a standout UX portfolio while working 9 - 5 ... but only if you apply actual UX principles to your actual UX portfolio. 2) You CAN tailor your UX portfolio in less than 30 minutes ... but only if you create a strong Baseline Portfolio and actual UX principles to it. 3) You CAN stand out with less than 3 projects in your UX portfolio ... but only if the projects you do include show receipts of your skills & experience. 4) You CAN get hired without making a UX portfolio website ... but only if you change your strategy and make a portfolio deck instead. 5) You CAN get hired without a UX portfolio that’s ‘perfect.’ ... but only if you stop perfecting your portfolio and start applying to see if you can get hired with a 'good enough' portfolio. Want help creating a UX portfolio that helps you get hired with a 5-figure salary increase without applying to hundreds of jobs? 🗓️ Join me for a free UX portfolio workshop on this Wed, Jan 29 at 4:00 pm ET. With so many #UIUX job listings on LinkedIn, it's surprising how saturated the market feels. Why is that? 🤔 The truth is, companies are looking for specific skills beyond the basics. They want candidates who excel in user-centered design, show measurable results, and understand the impact of design on business. Skills in #UserResearch, #Prototyping, and strategic thinking stand out more than ever. And yes, referrals matter! Many companies trust #Referrals as they bring a level of pre-vetted credibility. While talent and skills are crucial, a solid reference can help you get your foot in the door. Is anyone else noticing this? #UIUXDesign #JobMarket #UXCareers #DesignThinking #FreelanceCommunity #Networking #CareerGrowth #LinkedInJobs #DigitalDesign #HR
