If you are on your job search stop scrolling.. I’ve got a helpful tool for you These days to apply to a job a portfolio is required. That is not new news. However, even with this fact I find it interesting that more often than not, your portfolio is not thought about as your most important case study. Think about it… 👉 You know who your personas are, both their roles and their needs 👉 You know the flow you want them to take to understand your career journey So why do you think of it differently than a large UX case study? To me, this looks like understanding how a reader (Hiring Manager) interacts through the case study and overall portfolio site. That is where this tool comes in. ✨ Connect your portfolio site to a heat map ✨ This way, you can see the flow your reader follows. This allows you to understand what they click on and what they think is the most important. By doing this, it then allows you to design your site based on the information they want to see, so you ultimately help create a better experience for your reader! Have you tried this before? 👇

I've talked to a lot of you in the past few weeks. It's painful to sit down with you, trying to brainstorm ways to help you get your foot in the door, only to see you get hit with dead ends and face rejections in your #jobsearch. I sat down over the weekend and had an idea of how to help. So often, I evangelize this notion that we should "design" our approach or "UX" our job search. In some cases, this works wonders. But what about when you're not getting anywhere with this method? That's when I realized we could consider how other professions might use their skills, strategies, and expertise and apply those to their careers. • What would an architect do if she were in your shoes? • How about a detective? • Or even a farmer? How would they approach the job search differently? "WHAT WOULD A (fill in the blank) DO?" is a series I've created, exploring 10 different professions and how to apply their strategies and skills to land your next role. Thumb through the 10 different professions, study them, and see what sticks out. You might even have ideas from other roles and professions that you could add to this list! I hope this helps!
