Every life matters, and in emergencies, every second counts. When every second counts, life-saving skills like Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) make a critical difference. BLS equips healthcare providers with essential emergency response skills while ALS builds on this foundation with advanced techniques to manage complex situations. At Aastrika Foundation, we commit to improving emergency care by ensuring our midwifery educators – Ms Eathel Zechariah N, Ms Mary Christinal M, Ms Jayanthi Yesuraj, Ms Jayanthi Gopal, and Ms Merilyn Nangsha are trained in ALS/BLS by our trusted partner, Laerdal. Through this training, we empower our educators to respond confidently and effectively in emergencies, providing the highest standard of care. Let’s continue to invest in building a safer, more capable healthcare system! Did you know that by supporting Cavell, you're supporting not just working nursing and midwifery professionals, but the health of your family, friends and colleagues? Caring for such a vital workforce has a full-circle impact. But how? 👇 1) It helps support the mental wellbeing of nursing and midwifery staff, enabling them to focus on the patients they care for, rather than their stress and worries. 2) Supporting the financial wellbeing of this workforce, especially when they are in crisis, helps them to continue doing what they love as opposed to leaving the profession. 3) It shows nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants that they are valued and cared for, in turn reminding them why they are dedicated to healthcare. Find out how your organisation can get behind Cavell to care for those who care for us...https://lnkd.in/eWUhbkWs And hit that share button to spread the message 👍

So good to join the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer’s panel at the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) conference on Gimuy lands last week. How wonderful that technology enables these kinds of panels to go ahead despite the tyranny of distance. My takeouts: 📍There has been amazing progress for nurse practitioners in Australia, but there is still lots to achieve. 📍Mentorship is a key enabler of this workforce and people need to think broadly about mentoring and consider people from outside the profession for the skills and knowledge they can share. 📍Jurisdictions have strong NP networks with avenues for raising challenges and concerns with Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officers. 📍Jurisdictions are at different stages in their work to enable NPs through regulation and legislation. Thanks to Leanne Boase and Melanie Dunstan for facilitating the questions from members. 📸: Kate Lehmensich

Help Us Shape the Future of Nursing and Midwifery Practice Learning 🧑⚕️ We are actively collaborating with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) on their review of nursing and midwifery practice learning. As we know, today’s students are tomorrow’s professionals at the heart of health and social care, so your input is crucial in shaping the education and training they receive. What is practice learning?💭 As part of their education, alongside their academic studies, nursing and midwifery students undertake practice learning opportunities (placements) in different settings. This is especially important within rare disease communities. These placements give students opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, professional behaviours, and experience they need to deliver safe, kind, and effective care when they qualify. Students actively participate in their education, learning from various people, including health and social care professionals and the public, across different health and care environments. To ensure that practice learning prepares students effectively, we’d love to hear your thoughts on two important questions: 1. What would give you the most confidence in receiving care from students and fully qualified nursing and midwifery professionals? 2. What sort of things would you expect practice learning to cover? Feel free to think creatively and ‘outside of the box’. Your feedback will directly inform our work with the NMC and help shape the future of nursing and midwifery education. Thank you for being a part of this important conversation! Sustainability of the nursing and midwifery workforce is a global concern. In acknowledgement of International Nurses Day today, and in line with the #IND2024 theme, ‘#OurNursesOurFuture – The Economic Power of Care’, we spotlight a recent JBI scoping review, ‘Individual and environmental factors that influence longevity of newcomers to nursing and midwifery’. Although nursing serves as the cornerstone of healthcare, it frequently encounters financial constraints and societal undervaluation. This review is the first step in developing a comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence both graduate Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife retention. Conducting two mock site visits over the next two weeks! Today and tomorrow we will facilitate meetings with university leadership, faculty and students to prepare for an initial visit by ACME Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education at a prestigious college in the East. This will be the 4th new graduate program Grow Midwives has assisted, with two additional new programs in the pipeline for 2025. Despite the challenges and exhaustive preparation related to accreditation self-reports, the value of this process is well defended by the U.S. Department of Education. https://lnkd.in/gpxn2yfm For midwifery, completing an accredited education program (via multiple pathways) provides assurances that foster educational excellence and ensuring equal access. 👉At a time when midwifery is being HIGHLIGHTED as part of revolutionizing US and global maternity care to improve outcomes, graduates from accredited programs meet the ICM standards for minimum education and competency. https://lnkd.in/guvGn-Rx #GrowMidwives #HeretoHelp #WorcationDay3 #ZoombyDay #campbynight

🌍 NMC Expands Diversity in Fitness to Practise (FtP) Panel! 🚀 Great news from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)! In a significant step towards greater inclusivity and representation, the NMC has broadened the diversity of its Fitness to Practise (FtP) panel member pool. This initiative ensures that FtP panels better reflect the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of nurses, midwives, and nursing associates across the UK. A more inclusive panel fosters fairer, more balanced decision-making—strengthening trust and confidence in the regulatory process. 💬 What are your thoughts on this move towards greater inclusivity?
