Update for police researchers and practitioners! 🚨 A year ago, we founded the LEAPP Consortium (Law Enforcement and Performance under Pressure). The consortium consists of with our co-founders Vana Hutter and Judith Andersen, and executive members Matthijs Koedijk, Paula Di Nota, PhD, Jennifer F. Chan, PhD, and Karlijn Kooijman. Together we aim to create a platform to share and advance research and practice around the topic of policing. The goal of the LEAPP Consortium is to establish a framework of competencies needed for consistent performance under pressure in policing contexts. To do so, we will invite experts to become associated to LEAPP in the near future. You can check out our new website below. There, we share our current research and other informative material (podcasts, infographics, etc.) about the state of police and performance under pressure. https://www.leapp.ca/ #police #performanceunderpressure #policetraining

As the saying goes, don't trust your lying eyes. #Text-based #generative #AI still can leave something to be desired, but I've been absolutely blown away by what #visual #generative #AI can create. Like with all powerful tools, there will be pernicious uses, #deep #fakes being just one. Even though I work with developers, researchers, and policymakers looking at these issues all the time, I still have to take a hard look at #deep #fakes. Whether we are evaluating powerful #illustrative #evidence or potentially #deceptive content, it's critical that judges and lawyers understand the reality-bending capabilities of this new technology. Judge Scott Schlegel is a phenomenal resource for understanding how technology plays out in the courtroom -- don't miss his panel next week. Details below! #LegalTech #LegalInnovation #emergingtech
