Countless studies have concluded that volunteering through work leads to higher retention and engagement. 77% of employees say company-sponsored volunteer activities are essential to well-being. Folks want to work for companies whose values align with their own. Yet we hear a large portion of employees are not utilizing their allocated volunteer hours because there is a lack of awareness about available opportunities and how to engage with them effectively. If your organization utilizes platforms like Benevity, Deed, or any other charitable platform, please help us spread the word about our volunteer program among your employees. Together, we can empower them to make a meaningful difference in their communities while also being more productive and happy employees. You can't get much more of a win/win than that!

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, observed every third week of April, it’s an opportune moment to reflect on the power of collective action and the profound impact volunteering can have on communities. Also, take time to extend your gratitude to all those who dedicate their time, energy, and skills to making the world a better place. Getting involved during this week and beyond is not only fulfilling but also essential for fostering a culture of giving back. Here are some meaningful ways to engage and make a difference: 1. Donate and Match: Consider making a donation to your favorite charity and don’t forget to inquire about your company’s matching gift program. Your contribution can go a long way in supporting causes you care about. 2. Volunteer Locally: Take the initiative to volunteer at your local shelter or food bank. Organize donation drives and team activities within your workplace or community to maximize impact and foster a spirit of collaboration. 3. Engage with National Organizations: Identify a national organization with a local chapter in your area and get involved. Whether it’s building homes with Habitat for Humanity International, mentoring at Boys & Girls Clubs of America, or supporting Feeding America food banks, there are numerous ways to lend a helping hand locally. 4. Explore New Opportunities: Explore other areas where you can volunteer easily and make a meaningful impact in your community. Whether it's participating in environmental cleanup efforts, tutoring students, or assisting the elderly, every act of kindness counts.

I'm working on another corporate volunteering project and could use your insights. There's often an assumption that done-in-a-day corporate volunteering is a win-win-win: good for the corporation and its employees, the nonprofit/govt host, and the community served. Those of us working in this space know that is not true. Nonprofit, government, and CSR colleagues: • what are some of the things that go wrong with these projects? • what are actions you have taken to help them go right? For example: • educating a group or exec that wants to interact with participants in a way that would be harmful; • saying 'no' or 'not yet' if the group/project is not a good fit; • re-directing groups to participate in a longer-term, higher-impact need; • sharing ways to get involved beyond the day of service; etc. Feel free to send me a message if you'd like to share your experience privately. Thanks for sharing your experiences! #CSR #volunteermanagement #volunteercommons #nonprofit

Volunteering is a good way to help your community and make a positive difference. But how do you make sure you are really helping? On top of that, many employees increased the impact of their giving by using Cambia Health Foundation's Dollars for Doers program, which lets employees direct $20 to their chosen nonprofit for each tracked volunteer hour. Read more about employee giving, our community partners and the work of our corporate foundation in its 2023 impact report.

Volunteering = Cost Volunteering = Impact I’ve served as a volunteer in a variety of capacities and all of them have been worth it. Volunteering for Charity Water campaigns, Kids field trips, World Vision campaigns, athletic coaching, community centers for at risk teens, control group for a survey and blood donations. When I volunteer it costs me something. It costs me time, energy and even cash. What I value is the impact the volunteer cost can have in the life of others. I choose to volunteer my time, energy and finances to areas that matter to me. I want to have skin in the game and ensure that the impact is worth the cost. For over 21 years I also have been the person inviting people to invest in causes that matter. Having been the person who leads and develops volunteers I am keenly aware that when people give of their time, energy and finances they want to know it matters. Here my three simple guidelines for leading volunteers: - Communicate clearly and communicate often. Be generous and specific with your communication so those who are investing in the opportunity feel clear and can understand what is occurring. - Be consistent with what you ask of people within specific roles. When people show up, they can know exactly what is expected of them in the role they are serving in. When volunteers are confident in what is asked of them, they will serve with fervor. - Reward with kindness & encouragement. When people show up be kind and encouraging. Be thoughtful about them, thank them, love on them, celebrate them and do all of those with generosity. #coaching #volunteers

🌟 Celebrating National Volunteer Week 🌟 In just the past week, an incredible 800+ volunteers have already pledged their time to the John Deere Classic, and we’re on track to see that figure DOUBLE by July! We’re immensely grateful for the time our volunteers contribute to the community. Your dedication is the heart of our mission. 🌟 But the journey doesn’t end here. Through Volunteer Grants, your volunteered hours can transform into monetary contributions for our initiatives! As a certified 501©(3) organization, we qualify for these grants. 🏌️♂️ Here’s how you can further your impact: ◾ Continue volunteering—every second counts. ◾ Inquire with your HR department about ‘Dollars for Doers’ programs. ◾ Make sure to log your volunteer hours to secure company grants. The Impact of Your Time: ◾ Each hour you volunteer could result in additional funding. (If every volunteer spurred even a $10 donation, the Bonus Fund would see a gigantic $16,000 boost) ◾ Businesses are eager to support community champions like yourself. Let’s swing into action! Talk to HR, spread the word, and let’s score big for charity. 🌟 Need assistance or have questions? We’re here for you. Together, our collective efforts make every moment count!

Are you are interested in volunteering with Suicide&Co this year? UK businesses give employees a total 11 million days of paid volunteering time each year, with only 14.3% of it being used, meaning that an estimated 200 million hours of corporate volunteering goes to waste every single year (London Benchmarking Group 2020)! Most people are unaware of their policies but even those who are forget to take them or don't know what to use them for. At Suicide&Co we have lots of opportunities to volunteer your time in 2024, from supporting at fundraising events, to assisting with our merchandise fulfillment. In 2023 we worked with various companies to utilise employee's volunteer days and this year we want to help you make your days count! To allow all of us to plan better, we have created a survey to guage what you're interested in so that we can reach out when there is a relevant activity. https://lnkd.in/dX7CsRrP Everyone that is offered the days should be planning what they can be used for throughout the year, but if our charity mission is close to your heart please do consider registering your interest. Keep talking x
