According to the search results, there is limited research on domestic worker violence in Pakistan. However, some studies have highlighted the exploitation and abuse that female domestic workers face in the country. Domestic workers in Pakistan are not protected by legal or political frameworks, making them vulnerable to various forms of exploitation, including verbal, physical, and sexual abuse. The informal nature of domestic work in Pakistan further exacerbates the problem. In recent years, Pakistan has introduced various bills to safeguard the rights and protection of domestic workers, but changing social norms and employers' expectations remain a challenge. A scoping study on child labor in domestic work in Pakistan found that children engaged in domestic work are exposed to hazards, violence, and abuse. The study recommended legislative and non-legislative measures to address the problem. Overall, more research is needed to understand the extent of domestic worker violence in Pakistan and to develop effective strategies to protect domestic workers' rights and well-being. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #DomesticViolence #WorkersRights #HumanRights #DomesticWorkers #GenderEquality #BreakTheSilence #WorkplaceViolence #StopGBV (Gender-Based Violence) #EmpowerWomen

Women domestic workers form the majority of Pakistan’s informal economy, engaged in various household tasks such as child care, elder care, natal and post-natal care, cooking and cleaning. They are vulnerable to numerous challenges, including abuse and violence, coupled with inadequate protection and awareness of their rights. The laws addressing such offences include the Punjab Domestic Workers Act 2019 and the Islamabad Capital Territory Domestic Workers Act 2022. If you're a domestic worker facing abuse or discrimination, try to preserve evidence, such as physical injuries or signs of abuse, or any relevant items. Contact the Dispute Resolution Committees in Punjab or Islamabad, or contact child protection authorities if children are involved. The affected person, or anyone with pertinent information, can file a complaint with the labour inspector or at the nearest police station. You can also seek assistance from a lawyer or legal aid authority. World Against Child Labour Day Hundreds of millions of girls and boys throughout the world are engaged in work that deprives them of adequate education, health, leisure and basic freedoms, violating their rights. Of these children, more than half are exposed to the worst forms of child labour, such as work in hazardous environments, slavery, other forms of forced labour, illicit activities such as drug trafficking and prostitution, as well as involvement in armed conflict. The International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the first World Day Against Child Labour in 2002 as a way to highlight the plight of these children. The day, which is observed on June 12th, is intended to serve as a catalyst for the growing worldwide movement against child labour, reflected in the huge number of ratifications of ILO Convention No. 182 on the worst forms of child labour and ILO Convention No. 138 on the minimum age for employment. Let's work together to create a world where every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive without being forced into work. #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour #EndChildLabour #ProtectOurChildren

Calling time on human trafficking Coinciding with World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on 30 July, IOSH urges businesses to ensure they are doing all they can to prevent human rights violations both within their organisations and in their supply chains. The latest global estimates suggest nearly 50 million people were living in modern slavery in 2022. This includes those impacted by human trafficking, forced labour and forced marriage. Improving and enforcing laws With around a quarter of modern slavery victims being children, tackling this is the theme for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. IOSH believes there is a need global, national and sectorial strategies and action to tackle and eradicate forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking and child labour while also ensuring the provision of a safe and healthy working environment. It requires global efforts for implementing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, improvements in laws, enforcing laws and having more robust due diligence processes with transparency, and awareness raising in place to combat modern slavery and other human rights violations in business and supply chains. Ruth Wilkinson, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at IOSH, said: “Legislative developments such as the Australian Modern Slavery Act in 2018 and the introduction of the Modern Slavery Act in 2015 in the UK have been steps in the right direction, but we are now seeing signs of stagnation and millions of people still being impacted by the worst forms of labour exploitation. "We must remember also that these workers will be exposed to poor working conditions and practices and health and safety dangers." “Renewed efforts, action and transparency need to continue over the long term if sustainable results are to be achieved in order to avoid these frameworks being considered a mere ‘tick-box’ requirement to modern slavery.”

Child labour may seem like a terrible thing that happens in a far away place. But it can be often caused via international supply chains of the goods and clothes we buy. Often we are totally oblivious of the link. Firms are getting better, but we need to give them better tools to build better businesses. A good start would be using next generation auditing and monitoring techniques and move away from tick boxing and huge blind spots. This requires us to think different, measure different, act different. International Associates Limited have already started this journey and are set to do great things. Watch this space. #childlabour #auditing #supplychain #nextgenauditing

🌍Today is World Day against Child Labour, the day to unite to end child labour & protect the rights of the most vulnerable. #SDG8.7 aims to eradicate child labour in all its forms by 2025. Currently, less than half a year from 2025, one in ten children is in child labour. This has only worsened in recent years, with 8.4 million more children entering labour between 2017 and 2021. It is not just a social issue; it’s a business-critical one. Addressing it in business’ supply chains can safeguard companies’ reputations and foster responsible, sustainable operations. Throughout the day, we’ll share insights about child labour & what businesses can do to combat it., including: ➡Launching our 'RAPID framework' ➡Launching our new child labour report: ‘Addressing Child Labour’ ➡Sharing our work on the ground with PACE in the Democratic Republic of Congo Stay tuned for our updates and learn how your organisation can be a part of the solution. #EndChildLabour #ChildRights #WD4CL
