Celebrating International Day of the Boy Child: Empowering Boys for a Brighter Future Today marks a special day that often gets overlooked in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives: International Day of the Boy Child. It's a day where we take a moment to reflect on the unique needs and challenges facing boys around the world, and to celebrate their potential, their dreams, and their right to be happy, healthy, and valued members of our communities. I've made it a personal tradition to commemorate this day because I believe deeply in the power and potential that resides within every boy. So, if no one else is going to do it, I'll be here to remind you all, always. Why do we need to celebrate? Well, because too often, boys are taught to suppress their emotions, to put others before themselves, and to tough it out even when they're struggling inside. We've burdened them with the expectation to always be strong, to never show vulnerability, and to never ask for help. But why should they have to carry that weight alone? We need to unlearn these harmful stereotypes and teach boys to embrace their full humanity. That means teaching them that it's okay to prioritize their own well-being, to share their emotions openly, and to seek support when they need it. It means encouraging them to celebrate their successes without fear of judgment, and to learn from their failures without feeling defeated. In short, it means creating a world where boys are allowed to be themselves – where they're not judged or vilified simply for being boys. A world where they're free to make mistakes, to learn and grow, and to pursue their passions with confidence and enthusiasm. So, here's to the future we hope for – a future where every boy is given the love, support, and encouragement he needs to thrive. Let's celebrate International Day of the Boy Child by committing ourselves to building that future together. Happy International Day of the Boy Child! 🎉 #InternationalDayoftheBoyChild #Empowerment #BoysMatter #CelebrateBoys #BreakTheStereotypes

As a girls’ advocate, I must emphasize that true empowerment cannot happen in isolation. We cannot push girls to achieve their dreams without creating an enabling environment that supports their growth and potential. This includes engaging caregivers and key stakeholders who play a critical role in their lives. In this particular session, one man, a caregiver, expressed the belief that if a 13-year-old girl wants to get married, they should simply let her be, and that there is no need to rescue her from such a situation. But I ask, how can a 13-year-old, who is still a minor, make such a life-altering decision? Is it in her capacity to know what’s good for herself? What about her future and her education? It’s essential that we involve and educate key stakeholders in the process of empowering girls. Their support is paramount in ensuring that girls can pursue their dreams without being forced into decisions that could jeopardize their futures.

This recent article from The Wall Street Journal highlights a growing crisis of purpose among young men, who are falling behind their female peers in education, careers, and independence. It's a complicated conversation—one that requires careful attention to supporting young men without undermining the critical advances women have made over the past few decades. As educators, employers, and policymakers, we need to foster solutions that help young men find direction while maintaining the progress toward gender equity. Purpose, mentorship, and community are essential to ensure both men and women can thrive. https://lnkd.in/gFXBB9yE

On tomorrow's International Children's Day, let's learn from the little ones. They stand up when they fall. They try again when they fail. Let's take off our adult glasses and return to where we once started: the firm inner belief that we can achieve anything 🧑🚀🚀 Who is your role model? 📸 Credits: Pexels / Amina Filkins #mindsetchange #modernworkplace #myovb #internationalchildrensday

NEW HUMOR ALERT: While it may be a good idea for many companies to put out mission statements and statements of purpose, I'm not so sure it was such a great idea for the Heritage Foundation and Trump to do so in the form of Project 2025. The now-(conveniently) disavowed document shows that maybe it's not always a good idea to publicize a low quality product. I'm only 70 pages in on my Project 2025 project and I still can't believe the weirdness behind this...whatever it is. Today, I cover how the Heritage Foundation wants to deal with drugs and sexuality. Somehow they manage to link both of them to wokeness. https://lnkd.in/gZzUgMVZ
