⚛️🏔️ Landslides are natural events in which large masses of earth, rock, and debris slide down a slope due to gravity. 👨🏻🏫 These massive earth mass movements are triggered by factors like heavy rainfall, earthquakes, volcanic, and human activities causing significant damage to infrastructure, environment, and human life. Understanding geological conditions and implementing effective engineering solutions can help mitigate the effects of landslides. 🚨 Prevention and mitigation of landslides involve proper land-use planning, slope stabilization techniques, and early warning systems. #science #engineering #geology #design #creativity #innovation #research #STEM 👨🏻🏫 Follow Felipe Ochoa Cornejo 👨🏻🏫🇨🇱 for more state of the art and innovative science, engineering, geology, and technology 🎥 By USGS

Did you know Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) dates back to the 1930s? 🤯 It's incredible how far we've come in understanding and implementing this geophysical method. From identifying fluid pathways in reservoir embankments to delineating the spatial and depth extents of unrecorded landfills, ERT has proven its value time and time again. Today, it continues to play a pivotal role in aiding our understanding of the subsurface, driving forward innovations in areas like environmental science, archaeology, and geotechnical engineering. Fascinated by the power of ERT or curious about its potential applications in your field? Let's talk! #ERT #Geophysics #SEPGeophysical

If the resulting moment about point B is clockwise, the moment induced by the trucks’ center of gravity exceeds the counterclockwise moments induced by both the payload and the crane-arm’s center of center of gravity. I find the correlation between geometry & free body diagrams to be one of the most fascinating aspects of statics because it sheds light on the unique underlying characteristics of our physical word in which we live and operate. Side note: Developing this correlation adds a superpower to your arsenal of knowledge as an engineer, sharpening your perceptions forces at play in your day-to-day activities. This same superpower is what Pythagoras and his students (Pythagoreans) applied to resolve Ancient Greek problems through the use of right triangles.

⚛️🚨 This is what you risk when you miss your statics and dynamics classes 🤯 👨🏻🏫 Statics principles ensure that trucks and cranes remain stable, by analyzing their balancing forces and moments. For equilibrium, the sum of vertical and horizontal forces must be zero, and the sum of moments around any point must also be zero. In general, is always important keeping in mind that a low center of gravity is crucial to prevent tipping during operations. 🚨 Prevention and mitigation of engineering activities are essential #science #engineering #geology #design #creativity #innovation #research #STEM 👨🏻🏫 Follow Felipe Ochoa Cornejo 👨🏻🏫🇨🇱 for more state of the art and innovative science, engineering, geology, and technology 🎥 Please DM for credit
